boasting the Candy serial numbering system, I have no idea how to accurately date this machine, though it does have something to do with week of production allegedly! |

Paul sorry to interupt you again, but are you quite sure the U1222 stopped in 1989, as I am sure other Board exclusive cleaners in this colour did continue into the 1990's. |

Thank you for that. With regards to the model U2190 and respective hardbag cleaners with tools included, do you know if the cleaner was stamped with U2190 or was it just the packaging? |

Hi Benny. Dont know if it was just the box or the cleaner stamped with U1290, but the next model could give a hint to the answer, for they did the boxed tools thing with their new core junior model! |

I had a Turbo power junior same colour scheme as featured in reply 38 but the hood design was the same shape as reply 20 but with no headlight. I gave this to my sister when I bought a DC01 ( the breast cancer research model in silver and pale blue ), a decision I regretted pretty much straight away. My sister still maintains it was the best vacuum she ever had even though the handle did break on it. Thanks you for this wonderful thread, my interest has really been sparked by the photo in reply 46, I have never seen turbopowers like the two to the left of the photo, the one on the far left reminds me of a hotpoint swallow for some reason!

Hi Paul
Thanks for a great thread - I really do have to applaud the work you put into creating it. The 1412 Junior is indeed safe and sound and I was sure, from memory, that the handle assembly was different - looks like they were using up parts from the Sprite for I cannot see aby other reason why it should be different. I am also here to say that the U1650 is an absolutly brilliant cleaner, I dont have any experience of the previous models and I picked up my U1650 for the vast sum of £1.20 - yes, less that the price of a loaf a bread. Even at 650watts the suction is terrific and it grooms the carpet as well as ANY other cleaner I have used. Al |

Fit a new fan, even the slightest deformation would cause a rattle, We used to get in allot of them with vibrations, it was either the fan or the brush roll, anything that spins at speed needs to be balanced and the brush roll is also prone to rattle. A new brush roll and fan should solve your issues, Try the fan first though Gareth |

The roller brush was also termed 'Quadroflex' which I understood was more suited to a commercial carpet. The main colour was identical to that of the domestic electronic cleaner. The rear of bag unit and handle and so one was much darker. |

Paul, this is such an excellent thread! Many thanks for all the info provided and the pics.
The U5096 is one of my favourites. When my parents split up in 97, my Dad bought one of these second hand, so I have very fond memories of it. Unfortunately, when he moved in with his then girlfriend in 99, he left it behind in his old flat in favour of her grey Turbo 2 Autosense. Foolish man!
I have some very fond memories behind a lot of these cleaners - some of which I haven't seen in 15 years. The basic red TP U2724 was certainly a blast from the past. A friend of mine from school who lived in a block of flats up the road from us had one of these, but I've not seen one since. I don't suppose they were particularly popular, not being much cheaper than the U2798 and, of course, on-board tools being "the thing to have" of the day.
Again, big thank you for your effort with this thread - it's fantastic that we have resources and references like this preserved online to turn to when we need them |

Ya know Alex, I had a moment earlier on where I thought "maybe I was being too harsh, maybe I was over reacting, maybe I should get over it". And I unblocked you.
And in 6 words, you've reminded me exactly why I blocked you in the first place. I mean, here is a thread that has taken a long time to put together, not to mention the YEARS of collecting it's taken to get this information together. And we're clearly still finding new information about different models, which is amazing for 20+ year old vacuums. And what do you have to say? No "this is great, thank you" or "what a great resource for us all!" Oh no. You butt in with your stinking, thoughtless attitude and completely live up to your Negative Nancy nickname. *BLOCK* Arsehole. |

Very true Chris and the fact that from what I can see with all this info AND machines that sometimes pop up on auction sites, it is clear to me that this series and the Turbomasters were probably Hoover Europe's finest hours. I doubt there's as huge a following for the Purepower uprights compared to the TP1/TP2/TM series.
Hoover Europe should sit up and notice; clearly they could do with another well made bagged upright as good as the TP2/3 series. |

So, bring back the Turbopower 3 (basically) and shove a hepa filter on it with a synthetic bag?! It would never sell, too outdated and heavy, people want lightweigh these days. All be it if they made it to the same quality as the original series, it would be far superior to the Sebo X series. Did I just say that, oops, the match has been struck...

Maybe the match has been struck in your mind. If that's the case, bend over and fart into the flame, Alex.
The Riccar uprights in the U.S also sold as Truvox in the UK weigh far more than a Turbopower 2 or 3 series. They weigh 9.3kg SEBO's uprights are hardly lightweight to lift and of course nothing as yet to come in to replace the Miele S7 - they're still on sale in the UK and they're hardly light. So, after all these years of your continued posting threads of Hoover Turbopowers, Hoover TP2s, Hoover Elites - you really wouldn't want to see a new one pop up to replace the Purepower? |

Another exclusive Turbopower has been found. This is another of the unusual U2408 models, 1 of 4 known colour schemes. There were versions in white & blue exclusive to Argos, an unknown maroon model and this one in gloss black, exclusive to Littlewoods-Index.
This one is dated February 1990, making it exactly the same age as me |
