ok..i got this 105 th summer. it was in decent condition, just needed a little love. it is a NON rebuilt Model 105. most that i see are the Special that were redone in the 40's....although this one says special also, i read that ewas just to disingish it and make clear that it was not commercial. gave the motor a freshg coat of black paint, and same for the handle. and gave the base a good cleaning and some work with Mothers.....i need to make a bag for this.....butt that will happen in due time...

=)

i went on ebay and invested in a new cloth covered cord, and a reproduction plug. i think it made the the whole machine look more authentic.

That's really wonderful!  Is that cloth cord NOS or does someone still make those?  Can't wait to see it with a bag.  Smile

Nice. Robbins & Myers motor. The 105 and all other pre-700 machines were supposed to have come from the factory with a dull aluminum finish, but I've never found one that hasn't been shined up over the years. Pretty machine!

well.....

i like that satin finish....but this one needed a little shine to look good.....the finish was kinda really dirty. so you gotta do what you gotta do. i wanted to leave the original metal alone on this one, since ive repainted my 541

Model 105

Beautiful machine! Until the advent of the model 541, Hoover had the following name designations for their models from largest to smallest: Senior, Junior, Special, Baby. Every special model that is a factory rebuilt machine (at least that I've ever seen) are all marked "Previous Model Reconstructed at the Hoover Factory".

hey there.....

i wanted to let you know, i got the cord on Ebay. i searched cloth covered reproduction cord, and you have to pick through till you find something rather correct for your project. i guess its still made for lamp collectors, and is also sold for appliances....its sold bi the foot, so i orders 10 foot. that's just enough to play with the machine....but i feel like i should have ordered more...but oh well..=)

Sundial wire would also be of interest to lamp and radio collectors who need the cloth insulated cables.
