That doesn't mean I need to pick up every cool looking vacuum I find at the estate sales. Of course I can't help myself, so about when is this compact from?

Here I am trying it out, it works perfectly and so does the polisher attachment. It did take me a minute to figure out how to make the polisher work the hose needs to be placed into the exhaust. If this vacuum and attachments are something that someone here really wants and is coming to the convention let me know and I can bring it down to Omaha for you.

You did not point.....

to anything in the photo of you and your Compact. Please re-do it and hand it in first thing in the morning. Until then you get and incomplete and I'm sending a note home to your folks.

Robert, that is a fine looking Compact C-2 manufactured from 1949 thru 1952, if in fact it has two support bumps protruding from the body belly front, instead of the later single caster.
Sure does look purty & all. The body decal graphic looks excellent.
I have the later model A-2 Interstate Polish-Aire in turquoise green. Uses a heavy flywheel turbine that drives one O-ringed polisher head with a knurled post. The second O-ringed head is spring loaded against the first to counter rotate. This thing has torque to spare!

What's the model # of your Polish-aire, if the decal is still intact on the bottom casting. A-1 maybe?

Robert:

That's the exact Compact I grew up with- a C-2. We also had the Polish-Aire. Very high-quality unit. It took my mom over twenty-five years to kill hers, and that's really saying something- she is murder on anything electrical or mechanical. The Polish-Aire was hardly ever used; my mom hated housework with a pluperfect purple passion.

Neat find! I'd love to have a newer Compact (TriStar, actually), like the one Greg found recently. I'd also like to find it at the price he paid, that lucky dog! Do neat appliances grow on trees in Omaha? They sure don't down here in Atlanta.

Robert that is a very nice Compact!! Great find. Of all the bare floor tools I have tried I like the Compact the very best. Give it a try with you Hoover Constellation, you will be amazed at the sound of the suction. The polisher is really neat. I didn't realize you had to use the blower to make this one work, very different. You will have those basement floors shinning bright in no time!! Thanks for sharing.

Lovely, Robert. This polisher and the Electrolux ones put me so in mind of War Of The Worlds. :-)
