You Americans always seem to have good thrift stores with great prices, I wish we did here - some of our thrift stores want nearly as much as a new cleaner for old tat lol
Nice canister cleaner there for just a few bucks, and in a loveley 70's brown lol, nearly as loveley as my latest 70's gold/mustard Hoover Senior Ranger!

Thanks Steve

I am going to clean it up when I get home, I also have a darker brown one as well an older model that does not have the tool caddy ontop

We dont have anything like that style here - we dont even get Eureka's here, although I think its a susidiary of Electrolux isnt it? The same goes for Sanitaire. One brand I dont see much of is Riccar, and they look very good quality cleaners as well, with many innovations - pity we cant get Riccars here either. In America there are so many more dirty fan cleaners still available like the Royals and Sanitaires, we get none of that here. (Except Kirby that is and a few Oreck models)
I'm sure you sill enjoy cleaning it up, but in all honesty, it doesnt look like it needs much work doing to it?

In fact, are you sure its not made of chocolate - its really chocolately brown lol

Thats just like the one I found for $5 about 6 mos ago! I love Eureka's of that time period! You can't beat that motor in them!  Only difference is that this one is a Montgomery Wards

Thanks Steve and Ben

Thanks Steve and Ben, I would love to have a Riccar I think that is the machine I want next, and to answer your question no, it is in almost perfect shape I am just missing the accesories.

I wish they sold Riccars here - have seen reviews on them and vids on utube, great quality and great looking too, but pricey I beleive and they wont send you one over the post - you have to go to a dealers to buy one

That looks a little like my Electrolux Tango as it happens.

Steve

Im sure that is the case. I havent looked into them all that much but my local shop sells them, so I might have to swing by there.

They are made in Missouri so no cheap Chinese crap lol, and from what I've heard, they are as good quality as Miele, and the uprights have some very good features and look really good, you may want to look out for them at the goodwill stores, as a new Radiance is over 1000 bucks! Its no use me importing one from the States to the UK as they are all 120V and we use 240V here, but if you can find a Riccar second hand then grab it - I think they are understated cleaners, and they use bags as well, so none of your bagless cleaner problems - I take it you are a bags man rather than bagless - do you prefer older vacs or modern ones?

Those uprights resemble the S7 a little don't they ?

As for the voltage differences, a transformer can be had cheaply enough.

The Radiance premium has an autosense feature that lights up the outer leds on the front if it detects dirt, but they are considerably smaller than a Miele S7, and lighter, but just as well made. Why do the Americans get such good cleaners and we get all the crap like the Hoover Hurricane and Bissel clearview lol
I'd love a Royal metal with dirty fan and cloth bag - just like the Kirby, but half the weight and very powerful - but only available in America :-(

I think we've got off topic here, so better stop talking about Royals and Riccars, cause Luxman was originally talking about his Eureka, I do tend to stray off topic too easily lol, anyway - hope your chocolate Eureka works out well!

Cleaning Up That Eureka

Fabulous find and a great price.  Love Eurekas of that era.  It would need to be cleaned up, inside if nothing else.  Those machines were notorious for leaking dust inside.

That's true Steve, when I start talking to somebody I forget it is about a specific topic and start talking about different things as you would in a general conversation.
