I commend you for doing this! You are creating a win-win situation for everyone involved....someone will get a vacuum cleaner, Hope and Ben will receive some of the profits from the sale, and you will get some of the sales money as well! Please post a link or at least an eBay number when you get it up, I will be looking for it! Thanks!

Evan,
I might want it. I am in the 97267 area. Could you please give me your postal address, so that I can input it into MapQuest and then determine how far it will be to drive to your place from 14113 SE Laurie Ct., Milwaukie, OR? BTW, how much do you want for this 515? Thank you, Ben Edge (KirbyClassicIII) |

I guess they must have changed the bag design during the production run of the 515?
On Charles Lester's web site he has a picture of a 515 with the "deep V" bag.

I believe the bag on this particular 515 is a replacement. I think that bag wasn't introduced until the 516 (one year later). One reason I'm fairly certain it is a replacement is because it also has a bag guard. The bag guard didn't appear until the 516 as well. However, the 515 did begin its production run with the black vulcanized rubber wheels. Later in its production Kirby switched to the gray plastic wheels.

David,
While the logo may not have been changed on the belt lifter between 1949-56, the contemporary cursive Kirby logo first appeared on the bag with the model 513 (1953-54) which during production changed to a new 4.0 amp motor, and the gray handle grip became red during mid-1953 as well. The bag graphics on all models 513-515 was accentuated by angled stripes running throughout the center of the bag connecting with the top part of the letter "K" and the bottom part of the "y" in the Kirby name. ~Ben |
