I acquired an Electrolux 1205 50th Jubilee. It runs fine with very good suction, yet when I shut it off, as it winds down, I'm hearing a noise that kind of sounds like a bearing or something. Any ideas as to what's going on?

Golden J

Very nice Lux.Rear bearing is sleeve with thick felt under round cap.Should be wet with oil and checked at periodic service. This may help. These gave very little trouble if not abused.

Thanks, Rugsucker. Might have my local vacuum cleaner dealer check it out. I'm a newbie and haven't been dealing with these things for very long.:) Do you by chance repair, etc. Electrolux vacuum cleaners?

I just mentioned what you said, Rugsucker, about the vac to my dad. We might be able to take it apart ourselves and give it what it needs. Thanks for the direction.

Good call.....

Jimmy. Noises like that are almost always bearing related, especially from sintered bearings.

Speaking of that

Does anyone have some bags for this machine they are willing to Part with?
Mine has no bags and it won't turn on without a bag.

10 bucks--nice going! The 1205 "Jubilee" is a classic and was sold by "friendly Electrolux men" from 1974-75. Its honey-gold color denoted Electrolux USA's 50th Jubilee year (it began in 1924 as a subsidiary of AB Electrolux of Sweden).

In case you're interested in making a complete set, here's a list of the original tools and optional accessories:

1) combo rug/floor tool (ivory holder with honey-gold brush plate; metal swivel connector)
2) combo dusting brush/upholstery tool (ivory holder & "sides")
3) crevice tool (ivory, smooth texture)
4) white hose with teal/gold/teal tracers
5) Model PN-2 Rug Saver Power Nozzle with 50th Jubilee decal (ivory cord and wand sheath)
6) Shag Tool
7) White-bristled wall brush
8) White-bristled dusting brush
9) sprayer
10) vaporizer
11) Rug Washer (harvest gold top and base; ivory tank)

The Style C bags were the same for many of the tank cleaners from 1952-present, so they're readily available. Genuine are the best way to go, but some have said that the less-costly DVC brand is just as effective.

I wanted to mention, too, that the Model 1401 "Super J", which was made from 1975-79, looks very similar to yours, but has a larger motor and therefore a bit longer body to accommodate it, along with a "Super J" decal. Its tools and accessories were the same as those for the 1205 "Jubilee" except for its gold-colored hose and Model PN-4 Rug Saver Power Nozzle.

Lastly, you can obtain a free copy of the owner's manual by contacting Aerus at aerusvacuums.com.

Happy E'luxing!
