This is a 1521 model Electrolux. But I'm not sure whether it is a Grand Marquise, a Marquise, or what. Can anyone tell me which it is? Thanks. |

I bought this at an auction (box lot) with several other accessories. The manual in the box was for a Grand Marquise. That's what made me think it was a Grand Marquise. It may not be though. |

From all I'm hearing and recalling that I found the Grand Marquise manual in the box, I believe it to be a Grand Marquise. Any other input is appreciated though. Thanks. |

I think the difference between the Grand Marquis and the Grand Marquis Ultra Lux is the top trim. On one, it is painted (as in the picture above). On the other, is is chrome. I had the one with chrome trim, and I think it had an "Ultra Lux" decal on it. I don't own it anymore, so I can't look to see for sure! |

Bill Ivins is correct on this one. Electrolux came out with the Diamond Jubilee in 1984 to replace the Silverado, with chrome & dark blue trim. Then came out the Marquise in late 1986 if memory serves correct to replace the Diamnond Jubilee, & it was a light pinkish brown with a white top. Then the Grand Marquise out in 1989 to replace the Marquise, with a white body & blue top. Then the Ultralux with white body, blue trim & chrome top, & it says Ultralux at the back, on a label same as the Diamond Jubilee had. The Ultralux was also one of the first Luxes to have the lighted PN-6 nozzle, which was also the first Lux nozzle made where the floating axle could be removed & 2 fixed axles could be put in place to make the wheels stationary & make the PN dig into the carpet more.
Now this is for the American models. In Canada, in 1982 we got the E2000 in creamy Beige to replace the AP280- the only Electrolux EVER MADE WORLDWIDE to have a 2 speed motor- & that lasted till 1984 when the 2100 came out in white with a blue top panels, & also introduced the PN-5. They also sold the low-end LE model to the 2100, which eliminated the Automatic Control. Then in late 1987/early 1988 they came out with the System 90, which had white body & brown top panels, & again there was a LE model to match it too. And so on from there.... Hope this helps, Rob |

I honestly don't know what kind of stone it is. But I have the same stone on two fireplaces, the house's exterior, flooring on the patio and garden room, a pond in the backyard, and the border for raised flower beds in the backyard. It's everywhere! My house is a classic mid-century ranch with 7,000 square feet. It's a beast of a house! LOL!

This house is massive. It has five bedrooms, seven bathrooms, a music room, a "grand dining room", a family dining room, an indoor pool, garden room, silver closet (in the kitchen), two Sub-Zero refrigerators, a climate controlled fur closet, and a five bay garage. The 7,000 square feet is just the air conditioned space, but I think the total square footage is around 8500. It is built at the base of a hill, so there's a "lower yard" and an "upper yard". It originally sat on about 4 acres, which included a house for the maid and a house for the grounds keeper. But when the original owner died, she willed those homes to her staff. So I'm thinking there's about 3 acres left. From what I've been told, the original owner's father-in-law was one of the founders of Conoco Oil Company, so the money that built this house was oil money. Back in the day, she would invite people like Van Cliburn to play for a few select friends at an evening of music and drinks. Dean Martin has been a guest here too. The lady died about 15 years ago and the home was sold. It went through a couple of owners and fell into disrepair. About five years ago, the house was on the market again and the original owner's daughter bought it and donated to my church to be used as the parsonage. She paid to have it refurbished and furnished and also pays for the utilities, repairs, maintenance, and upkeep (which includes a maid and lawn service!). I would never be able to live in a house like this on my own or take care of it!!! |
