I have a question about the 1990 to 1995 Royal vacuums with the 6.0 and 7.0 amp motors: what kind of traits would be noticeable on the 7.0 amp machines? I know the 9-blade impeller fan is one of those traits, but you have to at least remove the Adjust-O-Rite or the hinged rubber plate on these units in order to check out.

Of course, all Royal metal uprights built since April 1990 used the 9-bladed impeller fan regardless of amperage (the previous units had the antiquated 6-bladed impeller fan), but what should I look for to determine that the rest of the motor is a 6.0 amp motor or a 7.0 amp motor?

The 886, for example, had the 6.0 amp motor in its entire run from 1987 to 1995, but stuff like the 994/996 and the 9700 had the 7.0 amp motor, which was all new for 1990 along with the 9-blade impeller fan.
