I recently went over my Electrolux Epic upright and replaced the hose from the brush area to the vacuum motor and also installed a new brush roll.....well the brush roll turned out to be an "aftermarket" unit.....I replaced the roll and the drive belt.....put it all back together and it was running like crap....weird speeds on the brush roll and it was tripping the RED breaker on the head unit.....I pulled it apart and checked things out, the belt when wrapped around the old brush roll I had just removed, the teeth meshed up perfectly....but when I wrapped the belt around the new aftermarket roll, I noticed the teeth did not mate up and it was quite obvious. I had purchased the roll from an internet vendor, but I actually went to a local vacuum shop in Montrose CA and he had the same aftermarket roll in stock, same issue belt teeth did not mesh with the brush roll teeth...causing a mess when the motor was turning it all.....so I returned the roll and ordered a "Genuine Electrolux Brush Roll" upon arrival all meshed perfectly and the vacuum is back like new..........I wonder if anyone else has had a similar experience......

Do yourself a favor and go to totalvac.com, they have genuine Aerus/Electrolux brush rolls for about $11 plus shipping. I've purchased one for every Electrolux I own as well as 2 extra brush rolls for any future Lux I might purchase. About 4-5 years ago I bought a brush roll and headlight from my local Aerus dealer and it cost almost $70! I've purchased after market Lux brushes in the past and they don't line up correctly and they don't have that extra "turn" of bristles that the genuine brushes do. For a very small cost you will be able to outfit your Electrolux with a genuine brush roll, and you will notice a significant difference in the machines cleaning ability. That extra "turn" of bristles really makes a huge differnce.

Any idea who made the brushroll? I have used CWP brushrolls before without any issues in my PN-6.

$11? that's a great price i'll have to keep that in mind, Thank you for the heads up on that.

who made the brushroll?

No I don't know who made the funky one(s) but I found it funny that they were the exact same one, one shipped across country and the other one at a local Vacuum shop.

I only really posted this as an FYI and I agree with the poster above, Genuine is probably better in most if not all cases.

Thanks

Genuine

When I found out a while back about the above vendor's genuine brushrolls for that price, I ordered one for my Diamond Jubilee. I was pleasantly suprised at the difference it made in performance, so I ordered one for my upright and another power nozzle. It gave me new respect for my Epic 3500SR which I thought was a lackluster performer until I replaced the brushroll. In this case, genuine over generic really makes a big difference!
