Hey vac junkies... thanks again for all the input the last few weeks. We have solved both of our household vac situations. Out of the whole mess I do have a one year old Dyson DC28 Airmuscle that was lightly used. It has all the attachments and manuals. I would love to find it a new home rather than popping it on eBay or CL. If anyone is looking for one and has a trade offer let me know.

It just depends honestly. We just replaced our main vacuum in the house with a Rainbow E2 Black and I have a Dyson Slim we use upstairs, but I need something that grooms and handles a large amount of carpet for our basement. It is wall to wall medium pile and will be for the foreseeable future. I like the Dyson but need something that grooms a little better.

Well do you have any preferences? I have a few different machines that you could use, but please give me an idea of what you would want!

My shortlist of machines I have been looking at for down there would be:

Hoover Platinum Lightweight
Kirby(newer)
Oreck(2-speed newer)
Riccar/Simplicity(newer)

Or anything close... I actually got an e-mail from another member last night offering me a nearly new Aerus Lux upright that is missing its attachments(no biggie) but I don't know much about the recent Aerus's to make an informed decisino yet.
