Just don't go near the basement or the staircase and you'll be fine!

Sam, John's a paid member just like you. Send him a message on the system bt clicking on his pink E-box.

Besides being one of the finest gentlemen on God's Green Earth he's also a most delightful & generous host if he has some free time to entertain.

You may expect your check in the mail, lol. I'm sure not everyone agrees with you, I can provide names, numbers, and the best times to call.
Seriously, SAM...I emailed you. A relatively tight schedule, but, I'd love to have you visit.
This week, I'm cooking for my church bazaar. NEXT Sat, I'm helping my sister with an engagement party for my niece. They're all in Virginia, invading Pittston.
Some day next week, I MIGHT have to go to University of PA Hospital in Philly, kinda spooky, as my brother died there. But.... as Sonny and Cher said, "History has turned a page, uhuh".
We'll have a nice lunch, Pittston Hospital iced tea.......... You'll drown in HOOVERS.
John.

John,

There are 3 Hoovers you may like on Pittsburgh Craigslist. All more modern machines, but well built, excellent cleaners with that said. A little change from your vintage route. The Hoover Futura would be 1990's the others are late 90's to about 2005.

1) Craiglist title: "Vacuum" Navy Blue Hoover Futura Supreme S3569 power nozzle canister. Asking $20, who knows maybe they would take $10 but still worth it for $20

2) Craigslist title: "Hoover Vacuum" Shaler. Hoover Windtunnel canister allergen filtration. There is no picture, but they claim it has the turbo nozzle. So most likely it is the Windtunnel Plus S3639, Windtunnel Preferred S3641 or TurboPower7500 S3649. They're asking $80. With no pictures condition of course is questionable and whether or not they actually know what a canister vacuum is or this model could be a bagless windtunnel with bagless canister compartment? Won't know unless you research.

Attached is a larger picture of a Windtunnel Plus S3639.

3) Craigslist title: "Hoover Vaccum" Lower Burrel. Hoover Widepath Preferred bagged upright. Type Z bags. The motor I believe on these is a Windtunnel motor, Very powerful suction on these. 15" wide path. The upper handle and main body is a very thick solid feeling constructed plastic. These were on the market only a short time, which is a shame because they were nice uprights. Asking price is $20.

Just wanted to let you know or anyone else in the Pennsylvania area.
Enjoy, Rob

Nice Hoover!

The only thing I did not like about that WindTunnel canister was that the suction relief valve was on the wand.....I don't know why they did not put that on the hose handle....weird... :-)

I would say...

fear the owner, not the basement or staircase. If you do go to the basement stay away from the lower 2."the bodies are there".Didn't hear it from me.
Bring a nice house warning gift, like a electro-lux.He will be so overwhelmed.

I thought you said a 'nice' gift. Perhaps I'll serve dessert .. in the 'lower level'. It's nice and cool down there.

Brian, I would agree with that. The Hoover PowerMax, Windtunnel line canisters are great cleaners that are easy to use and convenient. However there are some feature changes which would have been nice. I personally would like to change all of the wheels on them. For instance:

The large rear wheels on the suction unit should be rubber coated, the front swivel wheel should be a little taller and wider. Eliminate the two front bottom glides.

On the power nozzle, the two front wheels need to be wider, rubber coated and have square or spined axles that remain stationary so that the wheels turn and not the axle. The rear wheels on the power nozzle should be positioned to stick out the back further. This way when the nozzle is in the upright position you can tilt the power head back and wheel it around the house. The axles need to be metal or better plastic design and wheels should be sealed so that dirt can't get to them, also rubber coated.

The hose handle also needs a new design. The locking mechanism for Hoover's older gas pump style handle was never quite alligned right and always had a problem getting locked or the lock getting too loose over time. Should be a suction regulator on hose handle or suction unit so that suction can be reduced for attachment use.

However despite these issues, I have not found another canister in the past 12 years to clean as well, or be as convenient to use, or be as durable in this price range!

Did you ever see the comedy movie, "Young Frankenstein?&

As Cloris Leachman climbs the stairs, she turns, with a candelabra full of UNLIT candles, and says, "Stay close to the candle. The staircase could be very treacherous".

Regarding the Young Frankenstein movie of course. Now would you like a glass of warm milk, brandy, Ovaltine, perhaps?
