I have a question: I want to install a four-row brush roll into my Kirby Classic III, but, what brush roll and belt would you recommend? I've seen reports that the knurled #301291 belt puts too much tension on brush rolls w/o bearings.

Thus, is it true that I should match up the following brush rolls with the following belts?
#152575 and #152581 brush rolls - to be used with #159056 belt
#152585 and later design brush rolls w/ magnet on end cap - to be used with #3012xx belt (first used on Heritage II machines made from March 1986)

Also, is it possible to use the ball-bearing-equipped brush rolls on the Classic trilogy, the Tradition, the Heritage I, and all Heritage II machines made February 1986 and earlier?

From my very limited Kirby knowledge, I believe all newer Kirby brush rolls use ball bearings. I once had a Classic 1CR that had the older style brush roll. As Eurekastar (Bill) said you can use the knurled belt on the brush rolls with ball bearings.

Ben, Yes you can use a double ball-bearing type brush roller with four rows of bristles. They work just fine. You can also use the Knurled type belt. I have used them with all of my Kirbys and never had any trouble.
