we did Mike. I have the classic "Compact" style (actually two of them) which I am guessing date back to the 1980s as the flexes have moulded plugs on them. I have also, occasionally, seen the later Tristar updated version but unfortunatly dont have one of those. I also have the Italian Vortech version as well, and although its not bad, I dont like it as much as the older style which is both powerful and easy to use. The only drawback I find is the PN is a little bulky in my small house - although it works very well

Talking of top end vacs like Tristars, i've recently got a Filter Queen and I can totally recommend it. It's taken over from my Stealth 1 as my daily driver because it's so easy to use and as the name would suggest, the filtration is the best i've come across. My hayfever seemed to go over night after blitzing the place with the Filter Queen. The powerhead is a good deep cleaner and is nice and flat so it goes under furniture.

I love it so much i'm toying with the idea of buying a new one.

Heres a video I did of it...

Grab and go

I get the impression from other postings you have made that you already have a Miele Revolution, which I also have as my daily driver. The Tristar really would be no better (or worse) than this and indeed you may find the large PN a pain. I have an older Vorwek which is not bad but does not generate much "excitment" for me.

I also have the impression (and please pardon me if I am incorrect in this) that what you are looking for is a quick "grab and go" cleaner for daily use - hence your trial of Sebo Felix and now looking at Vorwerk. From this point of view the tristar would have no advantage over the Miele as it still needs to be assembled for use.

This will probably land me with a load of criticism but have you thought of something like a Dyson DC35 in "Animal" form as you have the dogs. I dont have one myself but I know others (not vacuum collectors) and they like theirs very much. And the price is not far off what you would pay for a decent used Vorwerk. I realise that you would probably have to empty it after each use if the dogs are shedding and it wil have limited operational time - but, for a quick daily whip round, would that be an answer?

Dyson / Miele/ Tristar

HI Yes your right I am looking for a quick plug and go as a daily but am also looking to replace the Miele at some point, it is a good Vac apart from the very short hose as I use it a lot for above floor cleaning the end of the wand can even reach the picture rail let alone the top of the curtains so you have to hold it in one hand and clean with the other, I would only replace it if I can get the same or better with a lone hose. We have 2 Revolutions one silver I think its a 700 and a newer one in red that I'am sure is a 5000. I would say that the older one is a little better as the hose is jointed at both ends. the red newer has 2 PN's one soft for rugs and one stiffer for deep cleaning both are fantastic. As for a Dyson as a Daily we did try one a lont time ago and it lasted about a week hated it. We have a lot of hand made rugs and the PN needs to have a gentle soft option to be able to clean with-out damaging and that why I like the Sebo and am now looking at Vorwerk but very open to any other suggestions from every one here . RyRy87 I love the FQ hard to find in the UK

Theres always the miele stick vac? it's ideal if you're looking for something for quick pick ups and i'm pretty sure it has a socket for a powerhead

Miele Stick

I had the Miele stick not very long ago, lent it to someone and never got it back, No power socket on the UK model and no hose or I think its would be perfect I've got the newer one cant think what its called right now thats not so good its OK on hard floor but useless on rugs. I got it for a flat that we used to have that was open plan with hard floors but we now keep it in the gym and its fine for that. Its the one covered in roses.
