I'm never sure where to post this type of pos, but I was wondering if anyone has a Kenmore Destiny or Fantom Lightning to trade or sell? I would really appreciate it if someone would reply. Thanks!

FantomFan could have the Destiny, he already has a Lightning.

If...

I were you I'd just check Ebay and CraigsList regularly. Most of the people on here that would have one will either be collectors that won't want to get rid of the machine, or the machine will be incomplete or in horrid shape. Oh and a tip for Ebay look for the Destiny and only search for "Kenmore Destiny" when looking less people know/think to check for one thus you get less crazy fanatics bidding. Most people also don't know what they have thus they list them way less than the Lightning. A perfect example is what was just on Ebay. A Lightning for $50 plus about $20 shipping covered in about 2 inches of dust, cord rewind doesn't work, and it comes with nothing not even a hose. Then there is a Destiny 3000 it has some light scratches and scuffs from normal use, a hose, and the cord winder works. The Destiny is only $9.95 plus $21 something shipping total came out to $31 and some change.

Zach, would you buy a Destiny or a Lightning due to your love in Fantom and Kenmore products? I know your Fury and Thunder are in dire need for new belts and agitators.

I would love to use eBay but at the moment can't because I have no credit card. (Fantomvacuumfan could fill you in) and I've actually begged him to get the Destiny for me becasue I obviously really want it but he said no because I have no money at the moment. I really hope someone doesn't bid on it from now until about Wednesday of next week so I can get some money and beg him again! :)

I'm actually talking about the Destiny 3000 which is a Kenmore version of the Fantom Lightning canister. Also, I saw that someone bid on the Kenmore Destiny canister on eBay..... wah.

Post# 193113 , Reply# 8   8/3/2012 at 19:01 (4,280 days old) by FantomLightning (Ohio)
Just...

Wait till you get a complete unit other wise your going to pay probably over $100 to get a canister and what goes with it separately. Its totally not worth it or cost effective just have patience and it'll work out. And I have to apologize I'm the one that picked up the Destiny that was on Ebay mainly as a parts machine just in case for the Lightning I have.

It's in immaculate condition, just like it came out of the box. But of course the cord reel don't work right. Price 500.00.

szymonrules's profile picture
I have a ton of good things that I own (Dyson, Apple, Dell, Sony products) it's just that I doubt that ANYONE would actually buy a Lightning that has a broken cordwinder for 500 dollars. Also, you still didn't attach a picture of it, thus, I can't believe that you own it anyways.

Just A Tip...

If you actually wanna sell the thing and get anywhere near $500 for it I'd suggest you post a pic. Saying things like "I'll post it when I feel like it" doesn't exactly get a machine sold... It also conveys that you're not a dependable person to do business with because if you were to ship the machine "When I feel like it" that could be years down the road.

seems like you are trying to stir up trouble here on the forum over a machine, wow how old are you really? only those who try to provoke others anger is only a child himself. Either you have the machine or you don't you opened your mouth therefore should take a photo prove that you have a machine that you say you do... if you cannot do such then please do us all a favor and back off. besides no fantom lightning canister is worth $500 weather or not it was branded destiny if that was the case I could sell my destiny thunder plus for $550 so please stop the childish games

I...

Wouldn't get it either... I simply don't trust this guy and Chase has a point about the cord winder. Also if its "like it just came out of the box" it shouldn't have dust in the coils of the hose and under the cord rewind and power pedals. It also looks like there are minute scratches on the PN and around the base of the machine... Does it look good for a machine of its age? Yes, but does it look like it just came out of the box and its worth $500? No, it would also be nice if he could have taken the picture of a machine he wants $500 dollars for with something better than an entry level Canon A530 from 2006 so you could have an accurate idea of the machines condition... Even with a good camera most scratches on these things won't show up you need to see it in person especially when you're going to be spending this much... Plus you have no idea what condition either motor is in, the brushroll could be trashed, and some of the electrical connections could be shot. I personally wouldn't even consider this thing w/o seeing it in person but thats just me. I also wouldn't pay anything near what this guy wants for it.

Thats punny! I already cleaned it up for the most part. Bugs are gone, motor compartment looks decently clean, the SS mesh pre-motor filter looks like it was stepped on, hose end is crushed so badly I don't know if it'll fit into a wand, and theres what looks like mud and mold on the inner portion of the canister. So thats what would have been your Destiny lol.

The Destiny could go to FantomFan, because he remembers this vacuum when he was little. And Zach, was this the first time you unboxed a vacuum and found bugs crawling out?

No, I didn't google it. I don't appreciate that kind of talk when y'all have never seen or meet me. Yes this is my vacuum. And I am not a liar, I have been selling stuff on eBay for many years I have sold fantom lightning before that were not as good as this one for 300 dollars. If you don't like someone's price, that's fine. This is America a person can price an item for whatever they want. If you don't like the price then you don't buy the item. Simple as that, but don't run down or bad mouth the person. Thanks

Post# 194123 , Reply# 52   8/10/2012 at 03:11 (4,274 days old) by FantomLightning (Ohio)
Yep...

I am 16 I think Szymon is around my age too. If the machine came with all I listed it would be far more appealing... But since I managed to pick one up with all of that along with the video owners manual for $25 and the overall condition is around what you have I still view it as a rip off. But again if you can get what you're asking good for you.

The statement that $500 is outrageous for a Fantom. It's bad enough that Dysons cost too much money and are not made in the UK like they used to be.

If you're not picky about completeness and willing to wait for someone to part with a powerhead, I have two canister bodies without powerheads, don't remember if they're Lightning or Destiny branded, I'm pretty sure my dad is using the Lightning canister in his basement since it seems to work well on his berber carpet. They do both have the hose. Iwas gonna sell at a garage sale next week both work. Condition is decent on both. I've already got two others with powerheads in decent shape and have really only been keeping Thunders (& Destiny, Domestic etc) and Wildcats. Just get back to me before Friday of next week.

Here is one for sale on Craigslist Frederick, Maryland. $15, I don't see the mini power head or bare floor brush, but there's only one picture.

Here is another Fantom Lightning for $15 on Craigslist. Glen Burnie, MD. This has the bare floor tool and mini power head, but it does not mention or picture the main power head.

I have a lightning canister that is brand new, but pulled off the floor because we needed the hose, wand and nozzle for a customer's vac.. Are you still looking to barter or buy?

I guess I didn't realize it but I have the wand and hose, just not the power nozzle.

I had a Lightning in the past; but the wheels kept falling off. It was my first vac I've bought new since moving out on my own; sadly I gave i to my dad because he needed a vac. I. M. O. I think this Lightning was the best Fantom ever. I also had a Fury, but the cyclone chamber cracked.

Both are still in my dad's possession to this day. :)

I miss the Lightning & any dual-cyclone Fantoms.

szymonrules: I always mention item and Craigslist ad when emailing Craigslist people. I love Craigslist but its definitely a tool to be careful with!!! Have to trust seller, buyer and merchandise is as stated.

Sometimes it takes 48 hours to hear back.

Lately I've been emailing every yard sale ad on Craigslist after they've had their yard sale to see if there is any merchandise left over such as vacuums that I may have interest in. I get some replies but with sending out over 100 emails, I'm definitely not getting anywhere near that amount of responses back. The emails are quick, I just cut and paste the body into a new message each time. The standard message talks about items like canister power nozzle vacuums that I really want and occasionally I'll add something if their ad happened to mention something else that sounded interesting. I search within about 1.5 hours radius. If I find a Hoover Celebrity IV Elite canister with power head, a Bob-Cat 21" push mower, Eureka Express canister and some other things of high interest, good price and reasonable condition, you better believe I'm like that song: "Hit The Road Jack!"

WOW!! That's a nice one too! Looks like it was very well taken care of. The only thing missing is the upholstery tool, but everything else is there, & the upholstery tool could be found on Ebay in time.

Fantom Lightning

I'm new here- just read thru thread. I had a Lightning which sat in attic since 2001 or so. New tenant needed a vac so I cleaned it up and works great. Then started research to find parts. Have found sites that sell the HEPA filters and other select parts, but cannot find a user manual. Can anyone help?
