Just curious if any of the European consumer test magazines (Which? and Rad&Ron and any other) have tested the Kobold Vorwerk vacs. They seem to be such nicely designed vacs - lots of tools and lightweight. I am wondering if they are good performers compared to other European vacs.....

Anyone know?

Hello! To my knowledge, there are no particular eports on older Vorwerks. However they were made very well, the materials used were excellent and the reason that so many of them, especially vk 117 and later models are still regularly used in many homes, second or third homes as well, after being replaced by a newer model for daily cleaning of the main house. Vorwerks were very simple machines, a direct air motor witha 250 watts motor, a suction connection for vacuuming attachmets, a blowing port for the bag assembly or for the attachments used with blowing like sprayer, deodorizer, hairdrier or blower and a place for the upright or portable handle, plus on rear sockets for shoulder straps for portable use. Kobolds did the everyday jobs nicey and effeciently, thanks to the simpleness and quality of their bare floor nozzles and the power nozzles. In practice most of the people just used them for these purposes, cleaning floors and rugs and they were unbeatable. Plenty of airflow, fan very close to the nozzle etc. There were many tools as you see for above the floor cleaning and they worked nicely as well, I think many people used the hose with curved and straight wands and floor nozzle or rug tool just to go under low furniture or to reach tight places. Moreover the huge presence on italian territory of Vorwerk dealers and assistance, and the availability of spare parts made them so popular and beloved by the households.
In the last 15 years many improvements to the system have been done and today the Vorwerk Kobold system is still one of the best and most complete cleaning sistems for household use.
I have a wide experience with vorwerks but my collection is very large, I'm not just a Vorwerk freak! I think it is ok for my house and many other people like it.
Kindest regards.
Tommy

ooh, another thing I was forgetting is that some years ago I took back a Vorwerk vk 117 with an Et 30 pn for use in my flat in milan. I decided to fit a Kirby Micron Magic G6 Hepa bag to it and I have to say that it worked great, after washing the outer cloth filter, filtration was greatly improved and airflow didn't suffer at all. I just closed the cardboard plate glueing a nother cardboard sheet on it and opening the top of the bag to fit vorwerks bag adaptor and retaining ring. it was wonderful! with the same principle I am using my hoover Conquest in the larger house but in that case kirby bag just fits to the top fil tube connection and I secure the top of kirby bag to the metal element that keeps all the filter assembly hung to the handle with a spring....am I deviated? No just a little bit allergic!

Grazie Tommy! What a great explanation!

Too bad we don't see these Vorwerks in North America...especially now with the popularity of bare floors in our homes.
