Hi there. I recently had a pump go bad on my RD. This model takes two pumps so last week I ordered two new pumps from rug doctors website. When I took a closer look at the wiring of the new pumps, I noticed the pos. wire had a different connection. I cut and swapped wire ends from the old pump to the new pump. So, now the pumps are installed and water is flowing from the jets but not like before. In the past this machine would use water like it was gas, but now its not pumping out water like it use to. Also, when the hose attachment is connnected, no water comes out when the trigger is pressed. Meaning, when looking at the solution line, you can actually see that no water is pumping..

More details:
Front pump - line direction is pointing to the right.
Back pump - line direction is pointing to the left.

I don't know much about replacing pumps in rug doctors but maybe a seal is gone and the pumps are sucking in a bunch of air instead of water, maybe the pumps are bad just a thought thanks. Zach

In carpet mode, the pumps work. They are not as powerful as the original pumps but its working better compared to when one of my pumps failed. In "hose" mode, the pumps don't seem to work. Bad switch?.. loose wire?..

It seems there is a Flojet pump that can be installed in a Rug Doctor as well. These pumps don't have the elbow fittings that the hoses connect to so I'm curious on how a Flojet pump is installed on a Rug Doctor..
