I found a very cool DC12 Complete at a Thrift store today. It even came with the accessory box and a slew of attachments. As my title suggests, what it didn't come with is the Telescopic Pipe & Hose.

I knew this walking out, but what I didn't realize that this is a Japan only model and I'm in the USA.

What I have found it a parts listing on the Dyson Japan website for a replacement handle & hose. What I don't know yet is if they ship to the US.

Just out of curiosity, if Dyson Japan decides they aren't going to ship to me -- am I pretty much out of luck in obtaining these parts? I was thinking the DC21 parts might be compatible, but now I've learned the DC12 is much smaller and is pretty much its own beast.

Any advice would be appreciated. It's super cute and I would love to put it to good use! :)

Although I am no fan of Dyson due to their cuthroat and lie-filled marketing strategies, but the DC12 is quite an interesting little vacuum.

I would propose it could be possible to build your own hose provided you gave some duct tape lying around. Of course, it would be hideous to look at, but it would function.

I have had a few dc12's in here from people coming back fro Japan, The telescopic tube is easy , its the same as that found on the dc08 telescopic rap or the dc20, the hose is an issue as it connects on the other side of the vacuum other wise a dc08tor dc20 one would work, Its an awesome machine, My Favorited dyson canister is the dc11 though, I just love the oddball looks.

Unfortunately Dyson US says that can't get the parts and Dyson Japan won't ship out of the country. :(

I guess it's time to make friends with someone in Japan. ;)

Well, I think I'm going to keep this as a display piece only. One thing I did not realize is the DC12 is 100V. Our 110~120v power here in the US makes the little guy overheat and shut down within 30 seconds.

I could buy a step-down transformer, but that makes the end result for this whole venture cost way more than I had intended. :(
