I recently finished rebuilding a Rainbow D4C and have been wondering about something.  Has anyone ever washed the fans to a vacuum cleaner in the dishwasher?  When I wash them, I first soak them in warm water with laundry detergent.  I then scrub them out with a bottle brush. That's very effective but a little tedious.  So I kind of wonder how advisable or effective it would be to wash them in the dishwasher.

YES!

Disassemble the motor and put the whole thing in there, fields armature and all, it will come out like new, only don't use the heated dry, Clay Floyd has worked for Rainbow since 1961, and always services them like this, it really will work!

I have always wanted to try it especially with the rainbows because they get so dirty but I don't think my mom would appreciate it if I put my dirty old vacuum fans in the dishwasher lol. I think I may have to try it some day thanks. Zach
