I was at the scrapyard recently and I thought it'd be cool to buy a Sunbeam Courier Hide-a-cord canister that I found, along with some newer vacs. Can anyone tell me when this thing was around and can I find/fit a bag and hose for it? I always like to know when my vacs where produced, but I have no idea on this one

I remember these vacs in the late 1960s, to early 1970s. They were Sunbeam's answer to the Hoover Portable, and the Eureka Crown Princess. So these were made around that same time frame of the "All in One", 'Carrys and stores like luggage" type of cleaner.

I also remember them not being all that great,,but OK for the smaller home or apartment. Was the type of vacuum you would have given to your daughter as a present for her first apartment away from home, or as a wedding present to a young couple just starting out in a small place.

It may be hard to find parts, especially hoses and bags, filters and original attachments in this day and age.

These dont come up for sale on E-Bay very often, so i would say they are very rare.

You may find parts and/or bags on E-Bay ocasionally, but not very often.

The manufacture of the bags or parts is ago long discontinued on these older Sunbeam vacs.

I would scour the basement or back room of old vac shops if possible.

Sunbeam

I do know this the Couriers were discontinued by 1973, and replaced by the Challenger. I worked in a store that sold only Sunbeam vacs.

Yesterday, I left it at the thrift store. Perfect outward condition, but not running, and no attachments.
I knew it was probably a rare one though.

Just saw one today at a yard sale. Kinda beat up. Hose broken. Neat color though.
