Perhaps if you remove the four screws from the lower bearing plate you will be able to remove the armature from the field housing, if you have not already done so. Before you remove the armature, it might be a good idea to remove the carbon brushes and springs from the commutator on the top end. Otherwise, you might loose them if they pop out.
Just some suggestions from an amateur but hope it helps. |

Thats why I remove the brushes via the screw-in plugs first. My 541 requires you to move the brush holder to remove the motor brushes, and you need 3 hands to put it all back together... |
