I hope everyone had a nice holiday weekend, maybe in a special place.I was in The Place Of Which We Do Not Speak(part vacuum warehouse, part Collyer bros memorial)starting some much delayed organizing. After years of vacs as a business &hobby, buying loads of tradeins with good modern and parts machines and a few vintage mixed in as well as vacs from out of business or deceased dealers it is somewhat Unspeakable!Anyone want to continue next weekend?--First,Floor-a-Matic,I found a better blue Elux L cw hiding between a 50s Singer can & Lewyt if you still need.--also,Montgomery Ward fans get ready for 3 rare canisters on EBay.(Hint, not one is Eureka.)Anyone up for a road trip?If you like vintage vacs bring a large cargo area and a relatively small amount of US currency.Do you like areas with interstate access, rivers, lakes and mountains? That would be here!Do you also like vintage cars at weekend cruise-ins?that would be here!(More on cars separtely.Cruise-in is every Sat.The BIG car show is July at nearby Borla Industries--QUALITY exhast systems.)The vacs range from Apex to Hoover Z with Much in between.Duplicates and large quantities of FQ,GE,Elux,Hoover & MORE need a new home! The dumpster is 50 ft away, the scrap metal yard is 1 mi,how far away are you??Any interest??

Jimmy!

If one of those canisters is a steel wheel Apex, save it, I will buy it or trade you something, same goes for a Eureka/Wards Upright. Hans

Vacs & BBQ

Steel wheel Apex-NO.MW/Eureka ur-YES,very limited quantity, various conditions,1 very plain, others more deluxe.Add about 20 more to your want list and bring a truck!--Ridgewood is close to closing for week vacation. We now have a closer BBQ that has meat and sandwich that seems equaly good(but different as all are)but fries and beans only very good, not great and no homemade blue cheese.

Power-Mate II

Do I know how you know?If the dark grey that can be used without vac & hose as an electric broom style I only have the one.Think it is missing the headlight lens and was never able to get cord for pn only use.It is to nice for parts and would be one I would most likely keep.I do have many pre 5055 style Kenmore including green, blue, white, very few early 60s,very,very few late 50s.Also 5055 type.Who will be first with a truck??

Hoover Convertibles

YES!So,do you want 2 digit ser no,metal base with aluminum model plate, later metal base, small hood, big hood, plastic base(small or big hood),household, commercial, parts machine at 0-5$,better machine at 5-20$,super nice at $$??.There is probably at least one example of most Convertibles in various conditions.Several gold & blue plastic base that were dept store models, and more and more.Do you want 1 or 10 or 100?Do you need outer bags, hoods, hoses, etc?Keep in mind not everything is organized. Some things I can find in 3 minutes, others may take 3 weeks! Also I can be reached at most times at 423-543-7900 as I live and work in the same 2 story downtown building in our Mayberry-like town.

too many early Kencarts

Part of my attempt at organising is to group similar vacs together.I had 1 early Kencart in the attic,1 on aisle 3,and there should have been 1 in the northwest corner behind the Australian Hoover and some floor polishers. However the corner had 3 and a half.Do they breed in the dark??These are the bullet type with tool rack with straps. Some are missing tool rack and need paint which could be an opportunity for custom color 'monster vac'.Most need new homes. The dumpster is 50 ft away, the scrap metal yard is 1 mi,how far away are you?

Compacts-Maybe a dozen.Tools in general-Relatively few.Glitter tools-Maybe a very few.Don't get hopes up for a complete set but sorting is by no means complete.Want to come help organise? How far away are you in KY?I will later consult, not GPS,but a paper atlas. If you like cars dont forget weekly cruise-in!

Compacts & MORE

Kevin,Looked at my atlas.I know 3 routes close to you.1 might save some miles.2 others could bring you by either large antique mall or very good weekend flea market. So if a trip might fit into your summer and you want to Do It With A Lewyt,or want your vac to be a Vax or believe that AirWay in the Best Way-PUTPACM.(pick up the phone and call me-423-543-7900)I have a general idea that most vacs are $0-$20,unless we get in the corner with RollEasys,Convertovacs,Gold 65 Hoover,RCA Whirlpool, etc. Also be ready to request avove mentioned BBQ or Korean or home cooking(but not mine) or steak & seafood at glass wall resturant hanging over lake.

Kevin,Make a shopping list and come on down.Just be sure to communicate with me as Alexander Graham Bell intended with voices on phone-423-543-7900.After 5 is usually good as I am not selling bags to customers who don't know what they need & belts to those who explain that my new belt is shorter than their old belt.--John,Hoover 1000(You mean other than the one that makes an exellent door stop/ashtray?)Vac & power nozzle-probably,hose-maybe.Rainbow-very little modern,no 2 speed.--Jimmy

Bison-Innovation

Bison-Maybe 2 or 3,all less than perfect and this is a brand I would like to make 1 good for myself. But at some point duplicates can go.---Innovation-Am slowly making a British invasion section which seems to have 3 or 4,at least 1 with handle broken at bottom as was common. Will try to check.(Are you near D Aslett museum?Have you seen?)

I'm about 3 hrs. from the D Aslett museum. I haven't been there yet though. Okay, would you maybe be willing to sell or trade a bison and an innovation? I would also like to see pics of the Bisons and Innovations you have. If you want, you can e-mail the pics to me. My e-mail is in my profile.

too many Rexair & Bison & Innovation & GE & MORE

Vacuumguy96,This now gives me an additional reason to sort Bison/British Hoover but is not an instant thing.More than willing to let duplicates go but probably for reasonable price and not trade.Even though I do not have everything there is little I need but there might be something I want.(I have been told these are 2 different things!)I have relatively few Bison atts.I do have 1 Sovereign and 1 Innovation that has cordwinder(Sears only??).--Zach,May have a few pics soon.Do you have friends or relatives that come to southern US coast. On previous trips to northeast it has seemed that half the cars at gas stops were Canadian and speaking with a few it seemed most went to Texas or Florida beaches. If so you would be welcome to see in person.Even more welcome if you take some vacs away!

Unfortunately, I don't have friends or relatives that come to the southern US coast. I would like at least one Bison though, whenever you have time to sort through them. I would also like a soft or hard bagged Innovation. E-mail me after you have time to go through and see what you've got if you can.

willing to ship?

Zach,Very willing to see some vacs leave and ship. But then have to factor in trouble of careful packing & shipping cost along with all other I have to deal with. But this can work. For some of you in certain locations it might make sense to have 1 or 2 that could travel and pick for a group that could meet later.(Will soon sort some GE,AirWay & older Hoover upright.)--Jimmy

Kyle,Good to hear from you.My customers often tell me "I saw someone else that has old vacs on TV".In the case of the Sovereign is is not one of but the one and only.I only recall seeing 2!First at a vac shop, now gone, that also had red/white FQ Princess in the mid 80s.Then found mine in load of tradeins from DTD dealer.I recall it was good and probably would sell. Also have at least one pack of original, genuine bags(type O?) but hoped for organising has not yet put it with vac.---Richard,Have AFs,yes.Willing to sell, yes.Good condition, not sure. Will try to check some soon. The AFs usually seem to be scratched/beat up.---Jimmy

Electrolux Model AF

Hi Jimmy,

If you decide to part with Electrolux Model AF in your showroom, here is my contact information:

cell:  561-339-2039

email:  mrmiele@aol.com

My daily driver is a top of the line Miele Vacuum.  I collect vintage Electrolux Vacuum cleaners.  Electrolux used to be my vacuum of choice, but in my opinion, Electrolux (Aerus) has lost their market place.  They have not made a decent vacuum since the Olympia model.

I look forward to hearing from you,

Richard

Electrolux Model AF

Good Morning Jim,

Hope all is well.  If the Model AF in the showroom is in good cosmetic and mechanical condition, I am interested.  I can deal with the cordwinder problems.  I prefer the earlier version of the AF.  The later version with the newer cordwinder would also be acceptable.

Have a great day and stay well.  Wish I lived within easy driving distance.  I bet there is a treasure trove hidden in the "place of which we do not speak."

Bison-Innovation

As I said there are very few Bisons and they all seem to have at least one problem of cord, handle grip, broken lens, etc unless I see a LOT of US currency and might be able to remember if there is a brand new unused green bison in the BOX!!!As for Innovations there is 1 standard hard case(parts only)1 hard case with cordwinder(good, may keep)maybe 4 soft bag(1 broken handle grip,1 badly broken base cover,2 with good motors that should make 1 really nice one.So some progress on vintage in between running store for modern. Call anytime as I work & live in same downtown building. If you have any connections with anyone looking for road trip bring big truck, small amount of $$.--Jimmy 423-543-7900

Jimmy, so the 4 hoses you have look like this? i need style with the pistol grip like below so it can work with my current sheath. if they are, do any that have that grip hold air ok? or more just display pieces? also did you find an appropriate color vinyl everyday hose for it too? thanks for finding the cord winder too.

Will Hemb

brush-hoses

The Roommate brush seems to have gone from difficult to impossible to find.--I will have either gold or white hoses same style as pic.Not likely to be airtight. Will check further.--Jimmy

To Jimmy:

Hey, I just saw your response on my post, and I am hoping I can convince one of my parents to maybe make the trip with me (i doubt they'd want me going on a 7 hr roadtrip alone), but i would LOVE to come check it out! would you mind emailing me more information as to the location of said warehouse?

Jimmy,

Do you have any old Electrolux tanks you'd like to part with? I have a wide range of likes from the XXX all the way up to the last metal bodied models. I'm very partial to Super J or golden jubilee models, and I'm also looking for a decent LX. Just let me know, my phone is 606-776-9327 and I'm in KY if shipping wouldn't be out of the question. Thanks in advance!

Steve

Michael,---Steve,

Michael,Is easy drive on 81 South, pass Bristol, then 20 or so miles.Happens to be 99 mi from Wytheville if you are familiar. Also other places of interest such as Bristol racetrack,Dollywood,mountains-lakes,Asheville NC,etc are nearby.--Steve,Have many(too many)Luxes. The problem of sorting by model and condition is where a certain amount of time and trouble are involved.But,YES.Would like to see some go.Are you close enough that a road trip is practical?Do you need hose and atts?--Jimmy

I would love to rent a UHaul and come up there and clean you out of your Luxes you don't want, but since I've already been to TN this year, I probably won't make it up there any more this year. Canisters and hoses would be all I need as far as the unit, I'm not sure what shipping would run on them though. I am having one sent to me from Western KY and it's about $12 to $13 I think. Email me at vacman1980@gmail.com if you don't care and we can discuss me taking a few of them off your hands! Thanks!

I think you and I may have exchanged an email or two regarding some units you have for sale. At the time you gave me your number to call and I have since lost it. Do you care to email it to me again? My email is s31463221@yahoo.com. Also how close are you to Paintsville or Salyersville KY?
