I picked up a Kenmore economy upright vacuum from 1970. I'm sure a picture of it has been shown here as a catalouge picture, it aparently is made by Whirlpool. Truly, quite an ugly machine, but I could not help myself. So...I've cleaned it up, and ran it for a trail run around the house. Very fast brush action! However, the motor got very hot, and I would guess that the bearings on the motor are dry. I lubed the end caps on the brush roll. My question is, how do you lubricate the motor? It is a very common looking motor. Looks like the kind that older sewing machines used, I think they are called universal motors. Any thoughts on motor lubrication? Guy |
