I got this old and needing much tlc hoover 375 the other day from a customer, according to him his mom got it just before he ent off to fight in ww2 making this one a model made between 1937- 1939

The bag does say hoover vacuum cleaner and looks as old as the machine but according to all my research should have been black. any one have any knowledge on this

She runs great and the rubber handle is complete ad not damaged in any way.I even got some attachments with it

The Original bag

On the model 375 was actually deep.gray with a wide black band at.the center, in which.the words, "The Hoover, It Beats As It Sweeps As It Cleans" appeared, very much like the original bags on the American models 150 and 25.

Great Hoover 375. I prefer the pre war 375 Hoover junior than the one that continued after the war.
I'm sure you will have your Hoover 375 cleanned up in a flash.
Make sure you post pics after.
Make sure you put your name on the pic or someone might nick it to use on ebay.

Here's my pre war 375 Hoover junior.

Gareth

It looks like yours is a pre-war model as it has the complete black stripe down the front, post war models just had the black cover. Pre-war also had the narrow wheels & height adjustment, post war had much wider wheels.

The original bag is as shown on James's picture, I have seen similar replacement bags but in black and no red underlining but there were a wide variety of replacement bags. Yours does not look like it has the original bag, but thats no surprise for a cleaner thats 70+ years old. Still well worth having as they perform well :)

I still find it funny seeing the old BS546 plugs over there, I like those better than our current plugs, they're not as painful when you step on the pins on a plug that has been left on the floor facing pins-up... :P

The vac shop back in Colne where we used to live had one of these 375s, I took a load of pictures of it, but have lost them in the digital ether, it was fully working too, and I think was also a pre-war like yours, he wasn't selling it for a price that agreed with me though, but it was a bit old for me to take on, the oldest thing I own is a red 1956 Western Electric 500 telephone, I daren't go older than the 1950's as I just don't trust myself to look after things that old... :S

I have seen that style if bag sereral times before and, as it carries the Hoover logo it may have been a later genuine Hoover replacement. From the looks of it the flex is a replacement too, but that is easily and safely changed back to black. I cannot swear to it, but I think that is an earlier style handle too which may date it closer to 1937 than 1939, even if that was when it was bought

I picked one up like that about 11 years ago and I sold it, dirt cheap..!
Wish i would have kept it, it is a Keeper for sure.
Good find.
