S2007. At a Venice Florida thrift, there is a very nice vintage teal blue Quick Broom. The bag is packed with someones household dirt. Otherwise, the machine is in great condition for its age. I'm guessing 1960's. Seems like a thoughtfully designed lightweight cleaner.

Should have snapped a pic, but was in hurry and didn't think about...DUH. Anyway, I passed on it, thinking the paper bags would be a problem. Per many internet vac sites the type "E" bags are obsolete. Called around to several area vac shops and found that State Vacuum in Tampa has quite a supply.

All this said, I'm thinking I will rescue this vacuum if it is still available. Just wondering how well this Quick Broom works. The suction seemed rather weak, but as mentioned above, the bag was very full. The wide floor nozzle has a setting for carpets and bare floors. The bristle strip and rollers are still in good shape. I would be using this on mainly hardwood and stone floors.

Thoughts/comments are appreciated!

Hi Leslie,

Those aren't bad cleaners. They're fine for bare floors. The E bags are NLA, if you can find some -- grab them and grab the vacuum! Good little machine. You can also use type G bags -- they connect the same way, the bag is just much smaller. It's an alternative. :-)

E bags

 Hi Leslie

I think we met at the Omaha convention. Hoover probably doesn't make E bags but aftermarket bags are easy to find. I usually find E bags at TrueValue or Ace Hardware stores in the bojack form. I once found a whole bunch of genuine Hoover bags at a thrift store and bought the whole lot.

I would get the vacuum for two reasons alone, "Hoover" and "Teal blue" LOL!

The suction on those old vacuums certainly does not compare to todays vacuums but i think it will do fine if all it is going to clean are hardwoods and floor. And the bag IS full so that should say something.

Hope it's still there.

The Hoover Quik-Broom

 As the.others said, are quite decent lightweight cleaners. I own an S2087 deluxe three speed.model which, when I use it on the sheet vinyl flooring in my bathrooms, I have to set on low speed because.the nozzle will actually stick to the floor on medium or high speed! As long as you bear in mind that such.cleaners aren't intended for heavy-duty cleaning and keep your expectations of them realistic, they will serve you well. I wish you the best with yours!

E bags

 I have 2 genuine Hoover type E bags if anyone is interested. Just pay shipping! I also have genuine Hoover Type M, and a various assortment of genuine and generic bags.

I saw one at my Habitat Restore similar to the left broom in Ray's post, but blue. I think my grandmother also had one.

Magic-Clean, I would think the suction would be much stronger with a fresh bag in it. I bought a Hoover Constellation at a sale that had a full bag and the suction was much stronger with the bag removed.

Big surprise, right? They are great for bare floors. There was a set of tools, too. Great for cars, bookcases, etc. Empty the bag, install a new one and see a major difference. I hope you're able to get it.

 so much for the favorable information. I knew I should have bought the cleaner on the spot. Fortunately, it is in an out of the way corner at the shop along with a few modern el-cheapo stick vacs that probably have more appeal. So with luck it'll still be there.

Marty, you are so right about the bag being full. Kinda like a stroke of the obvious....LOL!

Snatch it up!

 My mom had two of those growing up. The first one was from the 1960s and the second from the 1980s. I have looked for one of the blue ones from the 1960s for several years , but haven't found one. Still looking though. Hope you can get it. Good luck.

I have 3 of the shorter ones. This is a great cleaner. They even put a full handle grip on it. Great find. Enjoy!

 Are you sure that one takes E bags? I think the long bodied handivacs took type F bags. Short body took type G and the handivac/quick broom that had the cassette inside that held the bag took type E. Great vac anyway. I love the color! I used to have a dark blue version of this vacuum but I have no idea what happened to it.

The type G

 bag was the answer and fits fine. The suction is very good and more than good enough for bare floor quick cleaning. Based upon the condition of this cleaner, I think it spent more time in the closet than in actual use. Any ideas on it age....no serial # denoted anywhere. Just the model & Hoover Company info.

Have to chime in.
I have the gold 2 speed quick broom (S2087) and put one of the new bare floor brushes on in place of the larger multi surface nozzle that comes with it.
I find it works very well on my vinyl floors.
I think the design of the nozzle has a lot to do with how effective they are at picking up since they all have mediocre suction.
I consider quick brooms/electrik brooms as fine machines for the kitchen and baths.
They're great for those rooms and, I believe, that is what they were/are intended for.

Nice find. I wonder, did all of those curvy style floor nozzles have edge cleaning, or only the ones that actually state "with Edge Cleaning", like yours does?

I'm guessing the later nozzles with the big knob (as shown in the left machine in the first pic) were designed to concentrate the suction better?

Type E bag connection

 I have Ray's S2087 which I recently inherited. I have a type E bag but am having trouble connecting it to the nozzle. Perhaps I am missing a part as the cardboard lip doesn't seem to easily go on the nozzle. The use of the "cassette" name suggests that I am missing something. Any suggestions?
