i've seen sunbeam radiant control toasters (think brave little toaster) get into insane bid wars before. i saw one go for $180 once! i paid 6 for mine at an estate sale and it works fantastically! the most i've ever paid for a vac is $110 plus 25 shipping on ebay and it was a buy it now. people will pay crazy prices for stuff on ebay. but to that person, it must have been worth it. to me and most of us here, with think the bidder has screws missing!

I'd bet that the seller was the 'winning' bidder. That happens when a seller thinks that the bids he or she is getting for their item is too low. They might have two eBay accounts and bid against themselves in hopes that other people who are interested in that item will loose all sense and try to out bid the 'high bidder'. It's common. I can't believe that the sellers would be THAT STUPID, but what can you do?

I agree with you, DJ. The bidding history for 3 bidders shows essentially no activity until the last day, April 1, when it climbs astronomically to 79 bids .
I think the seller out-foxed himself. If some troll bid it up you can be sure he'll cancel the deal. I'm saving the listing and fully expect it to be re-listed within a short time.
