Hey Guys

This post involves vintage and modern but it would have been silly to do two posts lol ;)Firstly for the modern we have this- a boxed set of Turbomaster tools complete with cleaner instruction manual :)

Now the vintage......

A pretty unusual 1224 Junior(Same as the 119 but in new brighter colours). This was only made from 56-58 as against 50-56 for the 119 and so is a much rarer beast ;)

That reminds me of a song..
There'll be Hoovers all over the white floors of Dover.

One day I'll find one for myself if I'm lucky

Seamus...

WOW! I really like the look of the 1224. I think next to the Dirtsearcher Junior, that this is my favorite UK Hoover. They really tried to make it look apart from its sister the 119. It has the colors of our Hoover Lark model 12. Great photos...thanks for posting them.

Tom.

I was pretty impressed it has to be said :).

The bag may be a later- say early 60s replacement, Mike has one with the earlier/original blue bag.

I notice your 14 dosent have the blue cord- does it match the handle??

Seamus...

The replaced bag looks very nice and original on your machine. I still think it is a very pretty Hoover! I did notice the difference in the photos.

The 14 Lark had a cord slightly darker than the handle. To me, it looked a lot like the cord on the model 64 Citation. The blue bag on my Lark is a new old stock bag. The old one was very faded to an almost grey color in comparison.

So this is the stuff you were telling me about!

I've got a feeling that the bag is original - until 1978, the only time (I think) that Hoover uprights had the roundel on the bag was with the 638.

I know the handgrip colour (of all things) definitely changed at some point with the 1224 - is yours blue or pinkish? My machine with the blue bag has the blue handgrip.

I much prefer the non built-in TM tools - proper pip-fitting jobbies!

Handle Grip..

Hey Mate

The handle grip is the pinkish one same as the handle ;)

The bag ring is the matching blue to the front cover so could indeed be original I guess :)

The serial # is JH166845.

Not a bad buy at £15 although I prob would have got it for less if I hadnt been quite so eager after telling the old dear in the Sally Army shop I collected Hoovers lol!!.

The tool kit was a steal @ £5.00 :).

Drop me a mail bout Sat week ;)

Nice one Seamus, looks better in the flesh, it looked painted on the phone pic...I love those Banana Skins bags...and that one is an original replacement as well...

My first memories of this vac was our next door neighbour, Jennifer, I could here the noise AND it had a loud "Squeak" from the back wheels...never was oiled but sort of went with the sound of the vac itself...LOl, Mary next door to her had TWO 119`s, an original with brown bag and a lighter grey model styled for the leccy board with the light grey bag...marvellous
