Some of you will know that I have wanted a DC02 for a while. But whilst picking up the joblot of parts I had won I noticed one in the garage. Thanks to my dad I got it for just £10. Its a standard model, but It has all the original tools, wand, hose and it has brand new filters, but the suction isn't that great. Also, can anyone tell me how to adjust the height of the extending wand, because it is set on the lowest setting possible, which makes me have to stoop. Thanks, I am lucking forward for a major spring clean! Thanks, Jacob

I think you adjust the extension tube by holding the telescopic parts in both hands, press the yellow slider with your thumb, and pull the two tubes apart, smartly.

If the tubes are seized up, you might need a scoosh of WD40.

Oh, and the DC02 wasn't a strong sucker in the first place either.

Well said Rolls! I had 2 of these models. One was a beautiful Antartica model but the cleaning tools had got lost and getting the rare coloured ones were like hens teeth at the time. The worst thing I found was that the suction was only stronger "one time" with fresh filters. Thereafter, even after being washed and dried, the suction wasn't very strong. Very big machines though, nice weight to them.

My least favourite dyson , they just never seemed to suck very well. Even with a new motor. However I see that Fantom had an almost identical machine but coupled with a good looking PN I wonder how well that worked

I didn't think the suck was too bad on them.. I didn't rate the floor nozzle though. When they changed it to the head the didnt have to be adjusted to the floor to I think if improved the performance of the machine loads!

I have also found that with the DC05 head with 2 channels on the bottom (which was the same sole plate as the DC02) isnt as good as the head with only one suction channel. I hope thatales some sense!!
