My two most used vacuums...1958 Royal 801 upright and 1963 Royal 975 Canister! Both were gifted to me many years ago by Mike Rogers and were sold new by his firm the Henry Company.

The Pink Canister!

Is probably my all time favorite vacuum, but the 801 gets used more than any other, it is light and powerful, and even though im not an upright person, I do reach for it especially for quick pick ups...the canister is very quiet ,so it gets used when im really doing heavy cleaning, I hate to hear a noisy vacuum for long!

Nice Royals, Hans!

Royals and other Royal-built brands (especially Electro-Hygiene!) are some of my favorites too! And I have that same 801, given to me last summer along with several other Royals, Electro-Hygienes, and Hoovers (all uprights), by a good friend who was downsizing his collection. I think that version of the 801 may be somewhat rare, with that unusual bag.
Think your 401 is a rare one too--I've never seen a chrome one in person, and yours is the only one I've ever seen pictured. Great machines, Hans!

Very pretty, Hans! Love the all-chrome Royal.
