VERY interesting device-despite there are fewer cloth bags in use-the unit still could be useful.sort of reminds me of the chalkboard eraser cleaners you would find in schools.I would think besides vacuum bags, the device could clean small rugs and such that would be difficult to clean with the usual upright.I would love to run into one becuase its so unique.Sadly the vac and appliance places around here aren't old enough to have such a device.Usually treasures like that are found in the OLDEST places. The thing needs an "anti-twining device"The threads and strings wrapped around its brush was amazing.surprized you didn't smell smoking rubber when the brush gets that wrapped up.And you could put ANOTHER Hoover bag on the machine and clean ITS own bag with it!The more I look at it-the more clever device I think it is.Every vac collector should have one.and the eraser cleaner too.did the device use a standard cloth Hoover bag or did it use a special one?

Fantastic machines

You were so lucky to find a second! Nothing more frustrating than finding something rare and then discovering that it can't be fixed, or worse, that you've knackered it yourself.

Hope you get at least one of them running properly eventually - It'd be great to watch one in action, doing the job it was designed for!

Wow...

I knew you had one of these, from pictures I had seen on your website... years ago. I am absolutely amazed that you found not only one of them... but TWO!
Such a great idea, too. Cleaning those cloth bags is a big ol' pain!

Keep us posted on any progress you make, in re-building the one.

Bag Cleaner #2

As soon as I get my "original" bag cleaner back (see linked story), I'll be more able to figure out what to do with them. It's strange that they both have the same problem; hopefully I will be able to put at least one of them right.

Does anyone else out there have one? I'd be very interested to see photos, hear about experiences with them, what condition they are in etc. etc. I wonder if Tom Anderson, Fred Stachnick or Jeff Parker has one.
