Very true, Hans!

My favorite hoover just so happens to be my dream machine, the model 825.

In my opinion, the most beautiful and pinnacle in Hoover design, along with the 150.

What I would GIVE to find a model 825....

My other favorite is my good friends Spangler Suction Sweeper.

An important machine, as it was the design basis for the Hoover model 0.

As much as I dislike hoovers, I do like my two Juniors, one a 1334, the other a rebuilt-in-the-90's no-model 1334-lookalike, both work great where I need to use a small vac in a tight space... :)

Several Favorites

hygiene903's profile picture
There are several models of the Hoover upright I would consider my favorites. Starting with the old "coffee can" models, they are the 700, 725, 475, 825, 150, 26, 28, 29, 63, and several models of the Convertible. And I do have all of these I've listed except for the 150.

favorite Hoover upright

My first Vac I owned was a Hoover DAM. It is still ny favorite. I loved the fact that the tools were so easy to use and they were so well made. It also had very good tool suction, something that was hard to find back in the late 70's. I traded it for a Kirby Classic 3, which was a very good machine, but I really missed the overall convience of the DAM.If they were still made, I would buy one.

It's hard to pick just one, but I agree with Brandon about the 825. That is one classy cleaner, as is the 800 of the same era. Just fantastic design, build like brick ----houses, and solid, handsome performers. About the only thing they were NOT great at was above-the-floor cleaning.

I also LOVE the Model 63 DeLuxe and, of course, the original Convertible - the Model 65 pink lady. I also love the Model 1076, the lemon yellow beauty (right, John Long?)

Would really like to have a 69 but for now my two 65's would have to be my favorites. I was very fortunate to have Chad Cunningham find two on his weekly Estate Sale visits. I use my cosmetically challenged 65 for actual vacuuming. My U4003 Convertible is a close second.

.......this should be a place of enjoyment and unity sharing experience and interest. I will always love the Hoover Convertible Specials I grew up with and all the Convertible models that have the same hood in the variety of colors, which I hope to find a nice one in a great color sometime. I bought my Hoover Convertible model U5063-930 for my birthday in March of 1998 and still like it very much. I trim and make the Platinum HEPA bags fit and it does a great cleaning job and does an excellent job fluffing the carpet with the new brushroll :)

I have always loved the whisper-quiet model 541. It is a great machine with just the right amount of "spit and polish". By the way, it is also a Henry Dreyfuss design, his first for Hoover.

Hi,

New to the forum but not to the world of vacuums. There are many vacuums I like but as I collect Hoover Junior's they must be my favourite as far as far as looks go. I have a 1224, 1334 and a 1346a the last 2 are part way through a soft restore and I plan to expand the collection in the future. In terms of pure cleaning power I don't think you can beat DYSON. I have a DC04, DC05 and a DC25, all animal versions. The senior was a fantastic looking machine and the constalation was pure genius.

My favorite has to be the 4101. I have 3 of this model. The one I use has the one feature I always wanted on it, a headlight! I had to add it myself. Green being my favorite color, I love the retro look of the machine. Also, my Penncrest that I lucked into.

My 425 came to me, along with the late Stan Kann's entire collection of Vacuums. There were a few that had been pilfered between the time Stan's passed away and the time the machines were placed in The Vacuum Cleaner Museum in Saint James, Missouri. Whom ever swiped Stan's most valuable machines, missed this one. With the Silver Jubilee outer bag, this was one of Stan's's pride and joy's.

My first choice would have to be.....

The Golden prize Convertible mode 65 from 1958. I am very pleased and esteemed to own one of the only 22,000 of this machine made! I had completely restored mine from the ground up.

My second choice is the Convertible Estate model U4103. Not too terribly rare, but one if my favorites none the less.

In all seriousness, mine is the U4003. Mostly because it is the only Hoover upright I own!

Hoover Senior 6525E

My favorite hoover vacuum cleaner would have to be the hoover senior 6525E. Mine is one of the last seniors ever made and is from 1976 toward the end of the senior era. I love it so much because the headlight lights up dark spaces and it has great carpet pile height adjustment as its the only cleaner I own to have a setting for REALLY thick carpet. We have had new really thick shag pile carpet in the lounge and its the only cleaner that is really easy to push on the carpet and there is even a height setting above the one that already outdoes all the other machines! Also, for some reason my mothers hair doesn't get wrapped around the brush roll like it does with all the other uprights I own.
