This afternoon I went into my local recycling store and found this carpet sweeper with a rechargeable battery pack for £2.50 ($5).

It has three spinning brush rolls and a dust box.

I'm charging the battery pack just now, and will leave it on charge until tomorrow to ensure it has a full charge, but I did turn it on for a second when I got it home to make sure it worked, and it did.

I didn't test it out on the floor though.

Do they work well ?

Also, do you have any information on my one ?

Second picture.

It came up pretty well after a good thorough clean. It was absolutely filthy when I got it. I didn't even know it was yellow - Thought it was green!

And the brush rolls with dust box in the middle.

Unfortunately the ID sticker has been scuffed away to practically nothing.

As with the Swivel Sweeper (I had one but the battery didn't last) this is a copy of the similar design but triangular. Much prefer my traditional Ewbank or Leifheit.

Forgot to say, they're all made in China, have poor batteries. On the upside they're good usually on carpets and hard floors. As far as I know this one is like a copy of the Swivel Sweeper, not as well known, but not a rare model by any means. I think it's still on sale if you go through Ebay. Where is this recycling store, JM?

I haven't used a carpet sweeper since I was a kid, though it was a manual one, I think a Ewbank...

Regarding chinese batteries, yeah, they suck, but with the use of a soldering iron and new batteries you can replace battery packs without having to replace the device they go into... :)

I have a Black & Decker cordless screwdriver that had duff batteries in it (though they were used pretty hard building & repairing computers, got the driver cos it was being thrown out), and after making up a new battery pack myself it works great and still works great to this day... :)

My grandmother used a carpet sweeper. It was an old Bissell, having a wooden case with sheet metal covers on each side that you emptied the dirt out through.

You're missing a glider.... how does it push? I've had swivel sweepers, but the battery goes bad fast and the plastic breaks... Just threw mine in the trash yesterday! Never seen one that shape before!
