Rotho won...

But I wish that they had shown the entire test non stop, because while I doubt its rigged, whenever they say 20 passes, and cut out all that stuff, you cant tell if they really did 20 passes, or if they put more dirt down after vacuuming etc. Again, I doubt they did, but it would be nice to know for sure.

Yeah

It does look cool! And it does have nice versatility. However, if I were to get a water filtration vacuum, it would likely be a Rainbow, or if I was getting a bagged one, it would be without a doubt a Miele.

Rotho's are not bad, I like the feature of using a bag if you don't want to use water!

To look at that pic of the Rotho TT you'd think it was about the size of a Kenmore Can, but it's like twice the size. It seems like someone else posted this a while back & they said that it was not nearly as easy to clean & put away as a Rainbow but I'm not sure. Still- I think it looks cool and would love to try one. I like the PN.

In Europe it's called Thomas. You can find it as Thomas Twin TT or Twin T2 also.
It's quite qood machine, but as far as I'm concerned - Rainbow is waaay better.

The price of these vacuums have hit rock bottom. I was browsing eBay this morning, and came across a seller with 47 refurbished vacuums. $200 o.b.o. I’m gonna have to pull the trigger and get one. Worst case, I’ll use it to clean the cars. Anyone actually own one of these. It looks like a nightmare to clean.

I owned one for about six months. The Wessel-Werk power nozzle cleans well, of course, and the machine has a fair amount of suction.

There's no separator. Cleaning it is a NIGHTMARE. Wet dog hair everywhere inside. The foam filters have wet dog hair on them, the bucket is coated in it. The reason is the machine sprays water at the incoming air stream, unlike a Rainbow, and just 'moistens' the air flow and dirt. Trust me, it's nasty to clean out. Just like a Big Power - horrible.

Thanks Tom. I can now see why he can’t unload these at this price. Guess I’ll pass.

I bought one of these two weeks ago...

via eBay but not from the seller mentioned above. It was listed as “manufacturer refurbished” and I was the only bidder at $100, plus shipping. I haven’t used it yet, but did open the factory carton to check that everything was there. It appears to be brand new. If it was used, someone did a meticulous job of cleaning it out, even the hoses are spotless. The only thing my “home cleaning system” is missing is the “Hygiene Box” which allows you to use Hepa bags instead of the water filtration mess.

I read a comment once from Tom where he likened the Rotho to dragging a coffee table around behind you, and he is quite correct. The main unit is absolutely huge. The water filtration “bin” as it were seems really complicated with several filters and odd compartments. I will attempt to use it “wet” a few times just to see how it goes, but I plan to buy a hygiene box for dry vacuuming.

The main reason I bought this was to use it as a carpet and upholstery cleaner. I have several rugs that I’d rather not use spinning or rotating brushes on. I’ve never had great experiences with upright carpet washers and I much prefer a “canister” style extractor for doing upholstery. There are also attachments for cleaning windows and hard floors as well. We’ll see how it performs as a shampooer. For a $100, it was worth the gamble and even if it’s totally rubbish for all its functions it’s an interesting curio for the collection.

I was thinking the same thing. Just use it for throw rugs, and my car. I have 2 pugs that shed terribly.
Their fur would clog it up in no time. Maybe I’ll offer the seller a $100.

Here’s a good video on what the clean up will be like. I like how the kids faces are right next to the dirt bucket.

Miskini...

You may have already noticed this, but the current eBay seller (with 47 refurb units available) is not including the electro-brush kit.

Funny, how the older Rainbow nozzles didn't have those massive blind spots. I had some nice Rainbows once upon a time... but the Central Vac caused me to sell all of it off.
