I know I have created many of these threads: forget them. Seriously. They are no longer relevant. Today I have found THE product the clean my carpets: FOLEX! My story begins last week:

About a week ago, I decided that it would be good time to deep clean my bedroom. As usual, I used my Rubbermaid X-TRA and RugDoctor shampoo, which I considered the best at the time. The carpet did look better, but I was still unhappy. I decided that if I wanted a truly clean carpet, I would have to get some professional chemicals. Not extractor fluid that you put into the clean-water tank, I wanted real pre-spray that you apply with chemical sprayer.

So on Monday I ordered some natural pre-spray from a company named Biokleen. Now because this is real pre-spray, I had to get a chemical sprayer. The first opportunity I got to buy one of these was today, so this afternoon my dad and I headed over to Lowes.

While we were they there, I decided to see what other carpet cleaners they sold other that the terribly over priced Bissell junk. In the cleaning section I saw something called Folex that caught my eye.

Just yesterday I saw a video on YouTube of Folex. Some guy was able to remove a huge stain from his Toyota with just a mild mist of this cleaner. So when I saw it at Lowes for only $15, which is cheaper than my natural pre-spray, I had to get it. And I did.

Folex is not really a pre-spray. It's a stain remover and degreaser, which is actually exactly what I wanted. With all the Bissel soap(which is notorious for leaving a strong residue) still the carpet, a degreaser would really help.

I filled the gallon sprayer with about one-sixth Folex and the rest cold tap water. Tap water is really hard here, so cleaning carpets is difficult. I heavily sprayed part of our living room with my mix and thoroughly agitated it into the carpet.

You could see the carpet change from a light brown to a bright white within minutes. Next I filled my Rubbermaid(rebadged Bissell Big Green) with cold tap water. The Folex bottle says not to use hot water, so I didn't.

The carpet looks so so so much better! Keep in mind that the Rubbermaid has no brushes; it is simply a wand and a low-PSI pump. To tell you the truth, the Rug Doctor couldn't come even close to how well Folex cleaned my carpet. It is amazing. I once took about two hours to clean a fourth of a room with Rug Doctor shampoo, and it looked about half as clean as the Folex results.

I will take some pictures tomorrow. The Biokleen pre-spray is coming on Tuesday, so we will see if it can out clean the Folex. I doubt it.

Happy Cleaning,
Nathaniel

I love Folex. I once used it to get black grease out of the pale grey floor mats of a rental car. Ever since then I tell anyone that asks me about stain removers to get Folex.

Well

I would rather use something natural or more eco friendly such as biokleen vs something that would harm me and the earth . I have used folex to get the coffee stain out i didnt work so i got my money back and it made hands hurt after if got on my hands and my skin itch . Never again

I will definitely give this a try....

Can you add it to the carpet cleaner solution tank?

joshdonnell: I am not sure about how environmentally friendly Folex is, but it is non- toxic and safe to use in homes with children and pets. I think some people are more sensitive to chemicals than others. Both my sisters and my mom says their feet feel numb after walking the carpet cleaned by Bissell shampoo, and Bissell very proudly advertises their shampoo to be earth friendly.

em-tor64: Folex says you can use one gallon of Folex for every 4 gallons of water in an extractor. So I guess you would use one quart each gallon. I would recommend using a chemical sprayer instead, so you can agitate it with a brush.
