My very Good Friend Vance sent this to me this Week and I LOVE, NO, ADORE this Vacuum, it might actually be my New FAVORITE, especially since I have been looking for a Sunbeam Upright for MANY Years now, because my Parents once had one when I was little, before the Green Singer, Named MEAN GREEN, lol and according to my Mom and Dad, this Sunbeam here is almost EXACTLY like the one they had, only the Colors were different and my Mom said that theirs wasn't a Vista, but my Mom said this one is MUCH Nicer and she Runs like a DREAM!!!!!!!! :-D I did have to replace the Brush-Roll End-Caps, but this Sunbeam was Made by Singer, so I have several of those in Stock and other then Cleaning and Greasing the Brush-Roll, plus giving the whole Vacuum a bit of a Cleaning, this BEAUTIFUL Sunbeam Vista, only needed a New Singer Belt and a Genuine ORANGE Sunbeam Bag, which I have 9 of!! :-D The Bag does have a Problem with losing some of it's Teeth, made Installing a Bag, a real PAIN, but other then that, I can't find anything wrong with her, she's a Two-Speed as well, the Speed Switch is on the Handle Bail, because like most Singer's, it has the Handle Activated On/Off and of course there is a Nice Headlight, very Bright, the Base and Bottom Plate are METAL, along with the Fans and the Height Adjuster Operates all 4 Wheels!!!!!!!! :-D The Colors are BEAUTIFUL as well, so here is one Picture for right now and I'll Post more later, but I need to take a Nap right now, so I'll be back on later... ;-)

New Sunbeam Vista

I worked for many years at a store that sold only Sunbeam vacs. There was also a Sunbeam Sevice Center in my town that had the whole line of Sunbeam. Great products in their day.
If Singer made the uprights, did Sunbeam make their own canisters and electric brooms?

I had a Power 4 broom years ago, worked well, but very loud and the exhaust blew into your face. i also had a deluxe Challenger, nice vac that stored everything on top, even the hose. But, the hose was very short and stiff, and hard to work with.

Sunbeam Canisters!

Sunbeam did indeed make there own canisters,,They even built there own motors!! They were a one fan motor that produced INCREDIBLE airflow, When introduced in the late 50s, it was one of two most powerful vacuums on the market, the other being the Apex Strato

Yes, to the best of my Knowledge, Sunbeam did indeed Make their own Canister's and I believe Broom/Stick Vacs, but the Uprights, like mine here, were Made by Singer... ;-) Although, it seems that Sunbeam had Singer put a few more Features into their Twin Fan Uprights and all around, this Sunbeam just seems better Built, but that also depends on the Year of Manufacture and Model of course... ;-)

Singer also Made Uprights for Lewyt in Canada!! As of right now, I have almost all of the Singer Twin Fan Variations, except for a Lewyt, am now on the lookout for a Lewyt, but that may be an impossible find you know, especially since I've only ever seen one. :-(

Just Upstairs here, I have 10 Twin Fans, 6 are in my Room... ;-)

THANKS Vance!!!!!!!!!!!! :-D

I REALLY DO ADORE MY SUNBEAM FROM YOU!!!!!!!!!!!! :-D She's so much better then I ever thought and needed very little Cleaning and Servicing, plus like I said, those Singer End-Caps for the Brush-Roll, worked like a CHARM!! :-D

You were right about the Zipper on the Bag, it took me an Hour to Install the Bag, lol and the Zipper dropped a couple more Teeth, but it's Zippered up to full now and it's holding just fine, so as long as I don't have to change the Bag for a while, I'm OK for now... ;-)

That is a very good system, having all four wheels lift.

My '77 HOOVER Ranger has the system where only the rear wheels lift, which I don't have a problem with at all, but having all four wheels lift could only be better I'd imagine.

Yes.

It is better having all 4 Wheels Lift, but even still, the Suction is so STRONG, you still get a GOOD Workout using this Vacuum, lol, but it really Works WELL though, a GREAT Groomer and DEEP Cleaner for sure!! :-D

Oope - should have mentioned that both Lewyt models were sold during the 1973/74 season.

Doug, just so you know, there was a third Lewyt model produced as well. I don't know the model #, but it would have been a base model for sure, as it didn't have the headlight on it. It was a metal base though, with metal fans too.

It has a similar bag to the 455 you have pictured there, & the base & headlight hood would have been done in the same color as the headlight hood on the 455....sort of a weird yellow/lime-ish sort of color. I had this model years ago, but threw it out because the bag zipper was busted & handle release had broken. Boy do I regret that now!!

Hey Doug!! :-D Your two Lewyt's are BEAUTIFUL, I LOVE and WANT them both, GORGEOUS Machines there, THANK YOU for Sharing with me!! :-D Unfortunately, they never Sold the Lewyt Twin Fans here in America, so the only way for me to get one and add it to my Collection of Twin Fan Uprights, would be for one of my Friends in Canada, to find me one for my Collection, but the only Friends I have in Canada, are Members of my Car Club, so they go to Shows with me and whatnot and are not interested in Searching for Vacuums for me, believe me, I've asked. :-(

There are some People in my Car Club, who are Interested in my Vacuum Collection, but they aren't willing to help me find any, so HOPEFULLY, someone here from Canada will be willing and able to find me one, maybe one like one of your two there Doug, but then again, I'm not holding my Breath, lol!! :-p

I might have exactly what you guys are talking about!

I have been trying to fingure out information on this vacuum for quite some time now. Thank you guys so much for helping me. I am posting a picture. My husband and I get different vacuums all the time, this is by far the best I have come across. I even have a matching green vintage sampsonite bag to go to with it. Thank you guys so much for giving me an idea of what I have.
