I am currently restoring a Hoover model U4089 and the metal base needs to be repainted. I am aware that the original base color on this model was oyster white. Which paint is best for the metal base and which color is closest to oyster white?

My suggestion would be to

take the handle to Home Depot/Lowe's and they can match almost anything. That way, you'll have the best possible match. Once, long ago, I tried Rustoleum, "white". It was a disaster, I WAS only 16, however. Best of luck.

I forgot to mention...

that I will be spray-painting the base. Is there a good quality gloss enamel spray paint that is close to the original oyster white color?
