Is there as much need to replace it as quickly, and to not reuse it on a Dirty Fan Vacuum Cleaner's bag as there is a Clean Fan one ?
I know you need to keep up with bag maintenance with a Clean Fan motor, seeing as the suction goes through the bag and the dirt in it, but with a Dirty Fan, the air doesn't have to pass through the bag to create the suction, it just has to exit out of it, so does this mean you don't have to empty the bag as soon, and could reuse the bag a few times on a Dirty Fan cleaner ? With my Clean Fan bagged cleaners I change the bag when it gets to half way and never reuse a bag, so should I do the same with my 1977 HOOVER Ranger (the Dirty Fan Vacuum Cleaner I own) ? |

As stated, airflow blockage is identical whether the fan is in front of or behind the fan. Aside from that, the only other risk with re-using a bag in a "clean air" vacuum is that there is potential for the bag to rupture or leak, causing debris to go into the motor and other places where it shouldn't. In the case of a "dirty air" vacuum the only issue you would have if the bag burst or leaked would be cleaning out the outer bag its in.

Ah, well that is where you and I are different Chyvan, because although I have a cat, she doesn't get many hairs on the carpets, so about 95% of dirt in the bag come empty/bin time is pure dust that has been sucked up.
In that case then - I'll go for the safe option of replace every time! I have 8 spare bags anyway, seeing as I bought two packs of Electruepart bags when I won the Ranger on eBay, and am only on my first. Yes, that is right, I should have 9 in that case, but I used another one as a make do bag for my Philips U800 when I first got it. |
