Here is another vacuum find in North Canton. It is a well used Hoover 1060 circa 1966-1968. It was missing its lens so I stuck on a Guardsman lens for now. Jeff Parker asked to have this gem as the 1060 is one of his favorites and he has not had a "new" one to play with for awhile. I found it at a yard sale for the great sum of $3! The handle bail has been replaced but the rest is original. And guess what folks out there in Vacuumland, it runs like brand new. I removed the paper bag (an old grey Hoover bag) and even the belt was good. It seems that if they look rough, they run great. If they look pristine they run rough. Go figure. Joe you know what I mean! Enjoy the photos. I have not touched it save the bag and lens. This is just how I found it. Jeff or Michael will work wonders with it I am sure. Enjoy!

Here is the bottom...dirty but it still runs beautifully. This is more proof about the durability of the metal Hoover Convertibles. Not only will they clean your rug, they will last forever if reasonably taken care of.

I see these quite often in fact... Hoover's that is...

Tom,

I see these machine fairly often here in Michigan. Michigan seems like it was a BIG Hoover state. I recently gifted my latest 1060 to Mr.Krichbaum (sp.)and I believe Jeff P. got a earlier one from me years ago which I believe was earlier as it had the larger HOOVER lettering on the bag.

My closest friends here in Ann Arbor are using my 1070 as of now. When they move to Arizona this fall..it will be coming back to me..or I will fly down and beat them senseless...

After all the machines I've lost track of during the years of being the "nice" friend who gives them a kick butt vacuum instead of some piece-o-poo thing. I make all of them now fill out forms in triplicate and have them put up their firstborn as collateral..j/k..btw. But im not far off that mark actually...

In my main floor hall closet now is my 719. Which Kyle tells me is your most favorite model of Convertible. I like it because mine has all the modern things like the four position height adjustment...but still has that swoopy hood and the wraparound headlight. And that and that shade of delft? blue sets off from the base and handle just right. Anyone who ever sees me vacuum with it just HAS to have one.

My Dialamatic U5007 reposes in my upper hall nook. It's used for all upstairs vacuuming.

Sorry i just lost track there...anyway...

At any rate..if anyone can make that thing look like showroom new it would be Jeff.

Chad...

Yes, MI being so close to OH makes it a good candidate for sales. I am sure that there is as much grit in MI as in OH!! LOL!!!! I have seen the 1060 you gifted to Jeff. It is very mint. The lettering was one of the changes that happened during the run. Even the color of the bag changed.

Yes, my favorite Convertible is the 719. I have taken a picture of 719 row. I have given a good many of them away. There is one more that is in another place on display in the lineup. I even have one in the box with the tools! Oddly enough, I do not use one to clean. I use an "upgraded" 1070 with a high perf. motor and a CPW brushroll. I still use the C bags because they are so cheap and I can change it often. The 1070 would be a very close second favorite. The 1070 was Marine Blue and the 719 was Delft Blue as you mention. I grew up with a 719 that scared the he** out of me as a kid and a U5017 DAM. I just can't seem to kill one of these old four position Convertibles. I vacuum everyday and the old 1070 just keeps plugging away. I use a very beat 1020 in the basement...it too just keeps going and going.

Hope to see you in August.

WOW!

Kyle, what type of carpet is that? I LOVE it! We currently have
a berber that only my Kirby G4 and Sebo will clean, Our place in Miami has absolutely NO carpeting at all, even there I have a DirtDevil Reaction All-Surface, and at our place in Ocean city which has only a throw rug, I USED to have a Hoover WindTunnel DUAL V which I smashed into pieces (email me if you want the whole story) which got replaced by a savvy. Anyway sorry to get off topic, I have two convertibles a plastic one (U4397) and a metal one (U4047).

Great photo of the "famous" Hoover 719 Kyle. That machine has logged some miles on it since it was displayed on the Megan Mulally show last fall. Those are some of Hoover's best machines.

Kyle,

The one thing that I don't like about that carpet albeit being beautiful and stain resistant as you say is that You can NEVER tell if it's been vacuumed.

As many machines as you and I have ran across it you can only see what it has picked up topically.

I much rather vacuum in the family room. Nice plushy carpet that shows the lines..which you know I like when I vacuum

yes i agree i like to see lines! That tan carpet is just so easy to vacuum! I have crushed potting soil in it and that really bad orange kenmore i took on megan mullally show took it up in one stroke! Man that vacuum is aweful! But why am i complaining I found it NEW IN BOX!

Hoovers 1060 and 719

The vacuum I use to lean the downstairs of my condo is a Hoover 1060. Jeff Parker, I remember when I got it a year or two ago at a yard sale, that you pointed out it was a very good vacuum.

Also have a Hoover 719. I brought it to work so that one of the persons who cleans some of our rental properties and who was cleaning our offices for awhile could use it. I believe it's in a storage vault I have in one of our warehouses right now.

We're using a Hoover Windtunnel to clean our offices now and a Shop Vac to clean in rental property.
