I see the new lux upright is similar in design to the older models would anyone know if one of the new more powerful motors could fit into an older machine?

I've heard both yes and no.

Trebor would know for sure.  Write to him if he doesn't post.

I'm curious as to how many different motors have been used in the various Aerus Electrolux upright models since the Discovery II.  All but a couple early 2000s machines have used exactly the same outer case in different colors.  I have noticed less suction in the Discovery II and ProLux than in the Epic 3500SR, more still in the Lux 4000 whose outer motor housing below the bag compartment was larger, and a lot more in the new Guardian, which has the same smaller lower housing as the Epic/Discovery.

I saw that the airwatts for the new guardian upright is very similar to the guardian ultra canister, and i do like the lux uprights they are very simple yet effective machine but i feel it's suction is somewhat low but it does have great airflow at the nozzle for a bypass machine. I have tried another model once i cannot recall which ones but i do know it had a front mounted filter and it was white and blue and it had great airflow and better suction power than the Epic 3500 did i would love to give this the same/better power if it would not increase the noise too much
