That vacuum is one of the best canisters in production now. I have one and love it!

Power nozzle

I really do wish that the Simplicity/Riccar full-size power nozzle were quieter. But check out that brush roll! You know that has to clean amazingly.  The same power nozzle on the S36/1700/Moxie/Impeccable comes with a wood brush roll.  One local Simplicity dealer told me that the wood roll makes the nozzle quieter, so he would take the metal rolls out of the TOL models and replace them with the wood rolls from the lesser model because the TOL would sell better to women who simply preferred the quieter operation.   I was scandalized but then gratefully accepted a metal roll to put into my S36 that I had at the time... Innocent

Consumers Reports not so impressed

consumer reports gave the air flow a very good score, but the carpet cleaning was only good. It was also reported to be rather noisy. Designing an efficient deep cleaning power nozzle is apparently a difficult job.

I thought that there was something wrong with the powerhead, took it apart , cleaned it, double checked everything out, back together, same noise. So I visited a few of the vacuum stores that carry Simplicity, Riccars, and low and behold the same noise. The canister itself is extremely quiet.
