Dysons are one of the best bypass motor,or clean-air, uprights on the market. I've had my DC-14 for about three months now and use it daily, and has done extremely well. The floor head seals to the carpet more so then any other vacuum I have ever used. The tools are much better than other department store brands, and the filtration is great.

I am not sure how well it deep cleans though. I have seen videos by vacuum stores comparing the Dyson to various brands and the Dyson always looses. However they always use commercial-grade carpet, and very little people have this carpet in their home. It seems to do an okay job for me; certainly not anywhere close to a Hoover Concept or a Sanitaire.

I do dislike some parts of the vacuum. The brush-roll loves to collect hair, so I have to clean it much more often than other vacuums. It is also very bulky and a little top heavy.

If you must own a department store vacuum, Dyson is the way to go. I wish Hoover could come up with something better, but Dyson is king at this point.

I haven't tried it yet :) officially but a dc41 is really neat, other wise a dc28 air muscle if you can get one by it they are awesome vacs. steer clear of the canisters with air driven turbine heads ( my opinion )

dyson

would you be intrestred in selling me a dyson dc25 ball all floors

Post# 159901 , Reply# 7   11/23/2011 at 17:11 (4,536 days old) by baglessball ()

Go for the DC41 ball, I am eagerly waiting for it to be released in the UK!

I love dysons! More the uprights, but I have been using a dc19t2 recently, the hose is a little short but apart from that I quite like it!

I wish in the vac comparison videos try would first vac up a bag of flour in each machine and then do the test. I don't know of anyone who uses a new bag every time they vacuum..

I really can't understand when people dont like them. They work, and well at that!

I'm already hearing complaints about the DC41 here in the US... Dysons are way more than they're all cracked up to be. The technology is cool, but the dust bins are way too small, the price is way too high, they are way over-engineered, and the build quality is just not there.

What complaints have you heard? Give me some feed back!!

Post# 159908 , Reply# 10   11/23/2011 at 18:01 (4,536 days old) by lunchboxsean ()

I've heard about it being very very heavy, it is very hard to push, the build is actually lower than it was before (which amazes me), and that their trick new three zone dust compartment has a tendency to kick up dust really bad and cross contaminate when dumping which plugs up the filter fast. Some of these are nit picky, but then again it is a 600 Dollar machine, I would expect it to be on par with Riccar, Miele, and Aerus Lux uprights.

I own the DC28 Air Muscle

kirbyloverdan's profile picture
and think it is just ok .

Very heavy to push as I have Frieze` carpet.

Very bulky and hard to move around. I used it twice
and went back to my Sentria,Aerus Guardian and Hoover Windtunnel Max .

I try and try to like Dyson and I just cant . I had a DC17 animal before
and got rid of it also. I prefer my Rainbow E2 Onyx for a bagless machine.

Dan, you should of posted that dyson to me! I'm desperate to try one!! Haha

I'm the same with rainbow, I want to love him, I try, I just don't.

I don't mind the bulk, i really like the tools on a dysons. They are fast to use. I would be using them anyway when I clean so I don't mind having to use them where the dyson won't fit. Don't get me wrong, if they did away with the bulk I'd be happy too!

I like a machine that is hard to push and pull. I find it more satisfying.. I vacuum a lot, I like to think its good exercise.. :D

And Sean, as for the contaminated bin emptying to filter, I thought would happen when I first saw the machine. Why they don't have the feeding the cyclone from the top of the machine like the dc39 I don't know. But I'm a good one for wiping down the bin after I have emptied anyway. I like to see the shine :)

DC23

I have a DC23 turbine head and so far so good. I know the turbine head is not a favorite of many, but for me it has worked out well. I'd really like to pick up a Dyson upright but haven't found a good enough price, given that I'm pretty much out of room for any more machines.

What does the DC23 Allergy include that makes it "Allergy?" Just additional attachments?

By the way, did Dyson solve that problem on the DC41 where the head would lift off the carpet on certain knaps? For me that would be my greatest concern.

The dc23 allergy is the basic version of the dc23 , then you get the animal( turbine head in some markets )  , then the motorhead. all feature hepa filtration.

If I can give you one bit of advice fr your 23 keep the brushes in the turbine head clean and free of string or thread , remove them regularly and knock out the dust on the inside of the brush and check for hair that has gotten wrapped around the shaft as it enters the main unit were the bushes sit. keep that free of dust as well. I blow them out with a compressor and we even ad a tiny bit of oil to the bushes , make sure yo use brass bush oil though , it keeps it running well for much longer. We have endless trouble from those turbine heads here in SA

I have a DC23 turbine head. If I had to do over again I wouldnt have bought it. While the suction is king, ive used other canisters the were close to it at a fraction of the price. Also, the turbine head pisses me off. While I think its an inventive device, its the kind I would expect on a $40 no name Walmart special. I view it as a cost cutting measure to a power head, not something I would expect on a $400 vacuum.

The turbine head does a poor job of fluffing up the carpet also. If im expecting company I run my Hoover Nano-Lite over the carpet. I love that litte guy. First of all it looks like a baby Dial-O-Matic. Secondly, its less cumbersome than the dyson. And third it cost me $39.

Canisters are my first love though. Hoover had a sharp looking one a few years back but seems to have discontinued it. I didnt care for the looks of the Windtunnel multi cyclonic so I started looking elsewhere. I heard good things about Dyson so I bought the DC23. With half my house being wood floor (its acutally laminte but *shhh* that will be our little secret) the Dyson will eventually earn its keep, but I still like my Hoover better...

I luv my Dyson small range of products :)

Hi Guys,

I too have Dyson products in my home and I just luv them!

My First was the DC 25 All Floors that I have owned for about a year now and it still works and looks like new since the day I purchased it :) With a little help of keeping the filters washed like clock work every 3 months and emptying the dust bin after every use :) I own two cats one long hair and one short hair this vacuum just amazes me every time I use it as to how much fur and dirt collects in the dust bin! With this machine I have been finding I do not have to clean out the brush roll all the time because of the long haired cat's fur it seems to pick it up completely!I also found with this vacuum my shoulder or wrist does not act up when I am cleaning because the handle is a lot lighter than my past Bissell Heathy Home Bagless upright I used to own ( sold that really fast once I got my DC 25 ) I am not knocking the Bissell I just found it was not the right choice for me it was a very good vacuum strong suction but that machine's weight was a major issue for me.I find I can clean my home a lot faster now because of the very long hose, wand, turns on a dime so effortlessly and the great extra attachments which I purchased on EBay and Kijiji in Canada the floor tool, mattress tool, stiff brush, dusting brush,flexi-crevice tool, multi angle brush and mini turbine head I got all these tool at a fraction of the costs of new.I could go on and on about it but I think you get the drift :)

Then this past Summer my partner and I were at a Church rummage sale and he found a DC 16 Cordless Hand Held Vacuum for me for only $40 Cdn. No box but the Vacuum appeared to have very little use if any still had the new smell and not a scratch on it and was complete with all attachments, owner's guide with warranty card in tacked.I checked with Dyson Canada's website for a laugh and the vacuum was never registered so I claimed the warranty which I was so surprised to get since the vacuum is not in production anymore :) So anyway I got the vacuum home and charged it up for the 3 hours as needed and my surprise the vacuum works like New and has very strong suction even though the running time is short ( 6 minutes ) but for cleaning up around the cats litter box and small messes it is just Awesome!Very Easy to empty and Use :)

Next is my Dyson Hot Tower Heater/Fan ( AM 04 ) which truly blew my mind when I first plugged it in to try it out yesterday when I had it delivered from Airmiles Canada rewards :) This is the first space heater/fan that I have ever owned that really does heat up the whole room, quickly and in a constant of a flow of warm air.It also holds the temperature so well that I can turn down my central heat now save some money on heating costs :) I am mainly using it on our main floor which is a very large space and little heater can really push out the heat! Plus it is very easy to maintain just vacuum off the mesh screen around the base and wipe clean with a damp cloth :) I can not wait try it out as a fan for the Summer heat I am hoping it will circulate my air conditioning better through the house!I highly recommend one if you are looking for a great space heater/fan even though it is very expensive but I really think it is worth every penny because of how effectively it works!Well this is my small collection of Dyson products so far I am so pleased with each and every one of them.I am hoping to the near future to add the Dyson DC 43 upright to my collection, which they changed the model no. for Canada but it is identical to the DC 41.From what I have seen in the way of reviews so far have been very positive for this model?I seen the commercial on TV the other day and I must say it looks very impressive,I really like the active floor plate on the powerhead and it has more suction than the DC 25 :) Well maybe one day ?

Post# 160113 , Reply# 21   11/25/2011 at 12:40 (4,534 days old) by lunchboxsean ()

Those little Hoover NanoLites are actually quite powerful little vacuums. I was surprised with how well it cleaned in comparison to some of the small eurekas and bissells. I almost kept it for my wife to use and then I thought: "Stupid, you never let your wife vacuum, you're always giddy to try some new sweeper you just picked up..." I move about a dozen vacuums a week out of my 1br apartment and always want to see how one or two will clean. Safe to say, we have very happy carpet here.
