This is the latest batch of thrift store finds and though I usually won't spend more than about $5 on a vac at a thrift store, I stretched a little for these. The Riccar on the left was 8.99 and the Miele was 9.99. I am very impressed with both, the Riccar is in fantastic condition other than some scuffs and scratches, underneath it looks almost new. The Miele is the first one I've ever had and OMG!! It has so much suction I can't believe it, and it's also the quietest vacuum I've ever used. I can hold a conversation over it! I can only imagine the suction a full size Miele S7 upright or S5 canister has. And it is a stick vac with a hook up for a PN, This would likely be the best vacuum I have if I were to get a power nozzle for it and it was any good.

The 8900? It looks just like mine but I can't tell. Love that vac!

That Miele is a great find especially for $9.99! I paid $100 for mine, if I recall correctly... and I love it. It's sitting out in the dining room here ready for use.

That green Miele looks a lot like the S163 I recently picked up in black. Very nice machine, although I haven't really gotten into it yet. I don't think mine needs much besides some new KK bags. I just have the basic machine but you can get a hose for it and it kinda converts into a mini canister. Interesting features, looks well-made, bottom says "Assembled in China of parts from China and Germany" or similar words to that. I found mine in the junk pile for $4. I don't think it's very old; they still market the same model today.

Great finds!

Fantastic vacs at great prices.

Even though your Riccar does not have tools on the back, it does have the hard floor selector switch which makes it very useful for mixed flooring. Very nice price on it! I like the Riccars a lot. I have a blue 8905 (tools but no floor selector switch), a black 8955 (dual fans, tools, and selector switch), and a red 8925 (commercial version of the 8955). All great vacs! The 8900 series rocks and is much more likely to turn up used than a Brilliance or Radiance. I've never seen a used Brilliance or Radiance go for cheap in the wild.

I've had my eye out for one of those Mieles but haven't chanced across a used one. You had great fortune finding one at that price. Congrats!

The 8900 came with tools, but not a rack in the back. They came in a mesh bag. There is a hose a crevice tool and an upholstery brush but they are all grey and they don't match the color of the hose. I think it must have been an add on accessory kit.

That is a very good deal! You could spend more than $10 on a single new tool attachment, so getting a great Riccar with tools at that price is great.

I'm still very curious about the Miele. It seems like it would be a great broom on bare floors. I wanna find one, myself.

That Miele has the most suction of any vacuum I have!! That includes Kirby, Filter Queen, Royal, Eureka, etc. It's also the quietest vac I have ever used. When I am holding it on my lap I can have a conversation over it. It is truly amazing.
