Hello there fellow Canadian!!!
My recommendation is a Hoover Tempo Widepath U5140-900 upright - they are really great carpet cleaners and relatively cheap if you can find one in Canada now. They used to be on sale at Home Depot for $120, and Future Shop as well. But these stores no longer carry the model. You could probably order one very easily from your local Hoover dealer - just ignore any sales pitch to buy a more expensive upright. If you take care of the Tempo, it will give you years of great deep carpet cleaning - and it's very easy to move around and carry. The only other upright I would recommend is a basic Eureka classic Dial-A-Nap upright. Eureka is selling the Boss Model 1934B (see link below) and I am sure you could order this great classic carpet cleaner from any Eureka dealer. The Eureka 1934B has a much larger bag than the Hoover Tempo and so may require less changing. But the Hoover has a headlight and a wider head for more coverage as you clean. You can always drive across the border to get these vacs - I think the Hoover Tempo is sold at any Best Buy in the USA. Good Luck! CLICK HERE TO GO TO eurekaprince's LINK |

You should really look into the Kenmore Intuition bagged upright. I have one and I absolutely love it! But you have to get the red one, with the improved height adjustment. The only different between the red and silver is the height adjustment, and the silver has a dirt sensor. They are available at sears for around $200 I think.

Thanks for the help guys! Im lookin' into a Eureka 1934a. My local vac shop has them in stock. I have a vintage eureka esp, and it cleans my new shag rug in the living room perfectly with the dial-a-nap. Daniel |
