I.ve done that with a few vacs too, I had a really great PN from a wind tunnel hoover and some central vac hose so I left a Huge twin motor vac in a large walk in cupboard and used it as a central vac in our old house. It worked great and was super powerful

Hey Brad....just wondering out of curiosity, how did you do this?? I notice that the hose at the connector looks to be a slightly different color....did you have to splice 2 hoses together?? And can this be done with a electric hose & make it work electrically? I HATE how short the hose is on my Miele, & would like to get a longer hose to use with the PN, if possible. And I don't mind changing the electric wand & PN to make it work, if need be.

I will post a close up pic of how I connected the 30 ft hose.

Didn't you do a Dyson Central Vacuum that you put on You Tube?

Brad

Thank you for offering to post a picture of how you connected the 2 hoses. If you could also post some instructions on how to connect them together, I would much appreciate it!! It will be nice to get a longer hose for my Miele....the short hose is 1 of the primary reasons I don't use it as much.

Brad, that's ingenious!! I would have never thought a central vac hose cuff could be used for this application. Now it's only too bad you couldn't take a pigtail cord & plug it into the Miele receptacle for PN power....unless there's a canister PN cord with slightly smaller plugs. The holes on the Miele receptacle are a bit smaller than North American style receptacles.

Thanks again for posting this, Brad....

By looking at this picture and the comment about connecting a cord from the central vacuum hose to the miele receptical, I came up with a conclusion. What if you got a direct connect adaptor for the central vacuum hose, and then took a cord with a male end on one end and connected it from the central vacuum hose into the Miele receptical. The cord would look like what is shown below. Theres a link to the cord on ebay if your interested.

Just my suggestion :)
Daniel

Daniel, thanks for your suggestion. But the problem is that the prongs on the pigtail cord you linked to would be too big in diameter & wouldn't fit properly into the receptacle, & would damage the receptacle. If you look at the top of a Miele direct-connect wand, you can tell the prongs are slightly smaller than North American standard.
