I just picked up a really nice Hoover Elite 700. This machine is really upscale, with a dark chocolate brown appearance and nice quiet motor. The machine is 6.7 amps, and has a double bristle agitator with red bristles and a side zippered bag.

The neat thing is instead of there being a silk screened hood, there is a really nice decal sticker. The unit was made in 1989. I think this is just around the start of the Hoover Elite. This machine does not have a needle bearing like the real original Elites, even though the manual says it does. I wonder if this machine has had the motor replaced, as most of those needle bearing motors did not last long.

If anyone can shed light on this machine it would be helpful. I bought this and 6 other really nice machines from a time capsule home estate sale.

I'd need a picture in order to help you out.  Not totally sure based on description alone...

Most Elites did

either have their motors replaced or they just threw them out. I used to live near a Hoover factory store and they used to throw out all the Elites and Legacys under warranty I guess after they replaced the customers machine and I would pick them out of the trash . I would replace the motors and sell them . Stupid because I wish I would have kept them all now lol . That brown Elite was my favorite next to the Blue Legacy .
