Hello all,

I seem to be having trouble with the spring on the flapper valve  assembly on a hoover self propelled windtunnel bagless that I'm working on for a friend.  It is located at the floor nozzle and it will block off suction when machine is converted to tools.  How does that spring go on?

Thanks All

Not very easy.  Be careful, those can be dangerous.  Even when I worked at Hoover, I usually always wanted supervision while re-loading those springs.  I'd wrap it in a rag somehow and engage the spring.  But it's been at least 4 years since I've even thought about doing that.

Usually the plastic "arm" that the spring is on, breaks. It's a repair that's difficult to explain in words. The plastic part has to be held in something solid like a vise while you position the spring, and then that assembly is carefully snapped onto the pins on the base, next to the valve. I've already had a brand new arm and spring break and fly apart while on the vise. There's some crazy tension in that spring.
