Happens all the time. Until the recession personally affects this kind of person, they will just go on buying new stuff. For ANY reason.

Good for the person that ends up with the Kenmore, though. Push the reset and get a new pedal. Hopefully the PN base isn't cracked in the back section.

Offer them $5 saying that it could be a hard repair to accomplish, then sell it later for $50.... :P

It is sad that in this day and age that people are so stupid to not understand that basic maintenance is a necessity, it won't be long before 90% of the earth's population can't even work out what a screwdriver is for... :S

Looks kinda similar to the one I just bought new. I got mine on sale for $199, so it's not like it's a $50 vacuum or something. Nice powerheads on them.

this could be an opportunity to provide a public service and tell the person how to fix the problem. Sadly a pet hamster or sock puppet could still be lodged in the power nozzle suffering...

Listen I had a lady bring in a dyson dc04 the other day , 14 years old , says to me its not sucking like it used to and she wants to trade it on a new one pls.

I ask her weather she had cleaned the filter recently , her response, "IT HAS A FILTER ?" yep she had never cleaned the filter.

put in a new one and sent her on her way

Its amazing people will just throw it away and spend a fortune on a new one, that is one ofthe reasons we trade them in , I make a nice litle bit extra selling rebuilt vacuums.
