Found a Hoover Futura today at vacuum store! Never used, was in storage but the owner sold the hose and floor brush.

I need to find a hose and the floor brush

Apparently Hoover changed the name to PowerMax, then to the Hoover Windtunnel canister

They also had one of these labeled as a Hoover Spectrum. There may have been a few more that I don't know of as well.

Nice find there, Ben! Those parts should be easy to obtain, & it sure don't get much better than Brand New, Never Used!

The hose is sold out on the Hoover site but claim that they are going to replenish it, $69. Wheels are 3.80 each, the floor brush is 11.59 on ebay. Not too bad.

I just wish we could get cylinder vacuums with proper power nozzles here and not the stupid air driven ones.

I think that is why I have alwasy prefered upright vacuums

I too can't stand the Air Driven "turbo" nozzles. Not a fan, yes they do work to a point, but I can't stand the noise!

Its not the noise for me but I like a carpet to look vacuumed after I have done some vacuuming, I prefer the proper brush action

The Futura is 21 years old, manufacturing date on the vacuum is 1990

As I said in my email to you, I have the same model, same cleaner-- which was made in 1993. It's my final call what goes in each forum, respectively.

Supremacy labeled Futura

Mine's from 1990 & has EVERYTHING but the box! My Futura canister is badged as a Supremacy :) I bought it at a furniture store (display model) since the owner said it was the last of 3 Hoover vacs & shampooers they had left.

Ben,

Guidelines read:

The Vintage Vacuum Forum for discussions relating to all Vacuum Cleaners and Vacuum Related Topics for machines produced before 1980.

You Stated:

The Futura is 21 years old, manufacturing date on the vacuum is 1990

Done....

Post# 152574 , Reply# 25   9/22/2011 at 19:23 (4,570 days old) by HooverCelebrity (Germany)

In a silly twist of events, the forum guidelines, and the buttons that you choose from when you create a thread don't match.  One says 20 years, one says 1980.

It's been brought to my attention numerous times, I just need to sit down and fix it.

Non issue.

Just a thought...

Cars become classics at 20 years... Antique is past 25 years...

Again, just a thought. I honestly feel 20 years and older should qualify as Vintage.
