I like the idea of the ball in a canister. For those who like to drag vacuums by the hose this would make it easier to pull and the hose would last longer. Are these things super light or what?

Patrick,
Thanks for the post. Very sleek looking upright. An upright is all but useless in my house with multiple floors and different types of rugs, carpets and floors.
Leave it to Dyson to come up with some new invovation.
I like my Dyson canister except for the short hose and power cord and having to dump the dry dust from the bin. It never falls over or catches on the edges of rugs and seems to be quite powerful.

I hate it when customers want a machine because its storageable. They normally have the biggest houses and want a dc22 cause it fits in the cupboard. I always tell them thats like Buying a compact car to carry a family of ten because it fits in the Garage. I have never understood why people think a cylinder is more easy to store either , an Upright simply stands there, behind a door or curtain for normal people or on the COFFEE TABLE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE TV ROOM FOR PEOPLE LIKE YOU AND ME

But our house is only small, and my parents are used to canisters.

WOW!

Very nice! I want one! I never liked the look of the old ball models too much. But these are very refined and nice.

However, Holy moly. Has dysons prices gone through the roof? Nearly $1,000 for some of those? Thats a little steep compared to their mid to high $300 or $400 price ranges.

Oh!
WHOOPS!

Was looking at the AU site still and I didn't realize it. Had no idea your dollar was that different.

Dyson "The Ball" canister

I haven't seen the canister version of "The Ball" on Dyson USA's website.

even though our $AU is worth more than the $US We still pay more for stuff than you guys :(

We just opened a new store here yesterday called Masters which is a joint venture between Lowes and Woolworths (aus largest retailer). The store was AWESOME and had a really good vacuum range for a big box store - Dyson, Volta, Hoover and Nilfisk. Dyson were deff the most proficient, very nice, clean and fresh display. Also had a 'touch screen' kiosk to recommend a dyson for your needs :)

Our main vacuum cleaner is a bagless Electrolux 2007 I think. It is blue with 1800 watts. My parents have promised that when it dies, we will get a Dyson.

Unless I'm missing it, the Ball canister isn't on the USA website yet. The new upright is.

That Masters store REALLY looks like a H-E-B Plus! store

H-E-B Plus!

Carries only Dyson Uprights & Electrolux; they also used to carry Eureka, Hoover & Bissell (Not sure if they still do?) I saw a few Hoover Floormate H3044/H3045s there too.

I think the DC41

sanitairered's profile picture
may be a little over engineered. It seems like everything is kept inside the ball; the suction hoses, filters, and so on. If something were to get caught in it, such as a sock, it appears that it would be a time consuming process to didassemble the ball and clear out the blockage. I would love to buy one and play with it and test it around my house, but $600 is too much for me right now! Hopefully someone here will purchase one and share pictures!
