Simplicity has had the Jack and Jill compact and subcompact, respectively, canisters for a while. They introduced a TOL compact with a power nozzle called Snap. I went to the vacuum museum/outlet store to pick up my central vac for the garage and to buy a vacuum for a friend who lost his job and house and needed a good vacuum for his apartment. I had picked out the Snap cuz I trust Simplicity and it would be pretty affordable at the outlet. I used it on the floor and liked it so much I bought one for my collection, too. Lots of features: variable speed, HEPA filter, Hi-flow HEPA bag, long hose with PN switch on the handle, steerable compact PN with three lights. Color is metallic purple called "Grape Soda". I couldn't resist. Here are the pics:

This machine has an usual bag setup. The bag mounts onto a bracket that is removable for removal and replacement of the cloth bags.

Bag chamber cover open with the bag installed:

All the Simplicities and Riccar (minus the garage vac)

sleepdoc's profile picture
Except for the the central vac in the garage, here is my updated complete Simplicity/Riccar collection. I don't think I'll get anything else for a while unless they come out with a new model or I come upon one of the TOL clean-air uprights for a really low price.

There are other vacuums in this pic, of course; I didn't wanna bring them outta the line for their own exclusive pic. Sorry, lazy... :)

When my Kenmore Magic blue dies, I will be replacing it a Riccar, especially now that their canisters are made in America. How is the power-nozzle?

Compact power nozzle

I think the compact power nozzle is great. This is my first experience with it. It cleans about like a Miele 217, which is excellent for a smaller PN.

BTW, if you want to replace your Kenmore with the Riccar version of the Snap, it's called the Pizzazz. The color is Caribbean Blue. Link to its page below.

Patrick,
What a great color. It looks very upscale for a small cleaner. I love their atttention to detail and color combination on the power nozzle and straight suction tool. That would be a great choice if a person had a smaller apartment or condo.

FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS!? That is way too much money for me right now. If I were a regular consumer, buying my only vac, the price would be reasonable. Looks like a very interesting vacuum, but it would be even better at $300.

That looks like something my wife would love to use. She doesn't like the Kirbys. lol

$500 is too much for me too..

Another new addition Simplicity Snap

Don't you think it is hard to combine made in USA and high quality with a low price? It does seem to have all the features of a very high end canister only in a smaller format. I guess we can't have it both ways-cheap and high quality with nice features. It looks like a perfect solution if space for storage were a problem and you had carpeting and had a need for a power nozzle. I just love the color and trim on the machine.
Maybe Patrick can give us all an update after he has used the machine for several weeks.

Very nice, I love the color too. Finally a quality compact vacuum with a power nozzle.

Upcoming updates

You know no individual vacuum gets much of a workout in my house. I can tell u now from testing it that it works really impressively. However, I went shopping for the Snap for a friend, my own being being an unplanned purchase cuz I liked it so much. Vic has a shedding dog and lives in an apartment with wood floors and nice area rugs. This is his only vacuum, so the reviews we get from him will reflect actual use. Of course, I'll share them with you.

It MORE than likely isn't $549

As a rule of Simplicity and Riccar you must advertise the MSRP Price. Not the MSP. So the MSRP could be $549 however the MSP may be like $399. It gives dealers leeway to wheel and deal with their customer, it's as simple as that. Make your customer feel like they are getting a steal of a deal, that is how money is made. Advertise with one price, but charge one lower.
