Has anyone used this before? I thought the ones sold in the US lacked the clutch? Dyson has them reconditioned on their website. What are the differences between this and the DC33, if any? Thanks.

The DC27 uses the bigger, more agressive brushroll. That brushroll will really deep clean and groom your carpets nicely. The DC33 uses the same brushroll as the DC07 and DC14, the double helix one. I have heard excellent things about the DC27. It is similar to the DC17, but supposedly it is the "fixed" version. Hope that helps.

Now that's a mystery to me! I looked on Dyson's website and saw that it does have the clutch like the DC14, and then Amazon has it without that. I am guessing that if you get it remanufactured, they replace the entire base with that style, to use that clutch. But you can faintly see the brushroll window and the different brushroll on the one on Dyson's site. Maybe someone else can clear that up, because I am clueless!

I own a DC27, and it's a two-motor vacuum, at least in the US. It's very different from the DC14, which has a clutch and a spiral brush roll. It's less aggressive than the DC28, but it's a perfectly decent vacuum. I don't think I'd ever advise someone against it if they didn't want to spend the additional money on a DC28.

I have a UK model dc27 but its a single motor unit. it uses the same clutch and brush roll as the dc14 but has a bigger soleplate opening which gives it better cleaning. I also have a dc28 USA model , I think this is one of the most interesting dysons they have made as it uses a single motor , like the dc14 but its clutch is pnumatically activated with variouse stages of agression. I think its a wonderfull machine
